It must be frustrating for some japanese companies to try to justify their games to the rest of the world. If degrading women comes with the culture, how do you best pretend it doesn't?

I'd say it's more degrading to be caught PLAY the game as it's a bit of a stretch to say Dead or Alive as a franchise which can have much influence over the perception of anything, let along 50% of the population of this planet.

And come ON, talking about "degrading to women" is SOOO 1990's, we're beyond that, this is the days of sex and the city. The important thing isn't how much flesh you can see... just that you remember to counter balance that with some penis-envy style man-hate.

Clearly this is a controversy that requires more research.

*hits "Replay" on the video*

A great deal more.

That explaination should be filed under "Oh Team Ninja", but I'll let this one slide. I have now decided I must play these games.

I wonder how many people have masturbated to that video.
I don't even want to think about it.

After reading this I kinda wonder what the ESRB thought of the original DOA Extreme Beach Vollyball. I just wish Team Ninja would release DOA 5 or take the Valve approach and say "were making it".

That's on PSP? I'd be embarassed to have that on the go. That's something the people on the bus would give weird looks about.

Wasn't that "Age" feature in DOA2 great for a laugh?

While I do enjoy the fighting games for their fluidity and overall fun level, the fact that Team Ninja is trying to deny their exploitation of the female form to sell games is kind of like the pedophile wanking off in the back of the bus and getting caught trying to deny it.

I love the fighting games (DOA3 is my favorite of the bunch), and I had a load of fun with the first Volleyball title as well. (Believe it or not, the volleyball was actually pretty good.) I think it's just the sheer blatantness of the cheesecake that makes it so amusing to me.

Yeah, and everyone who buys this game buys it to follow the deep, meaningful storyline, and to relate to the well-rounded (not in that way!) characters.

So... the female form can only be appreciated when it is "slim/athletic" and is in a string bikini? oh, and "ultra-jiggly"? Viewed in provocative poses? From suggestive camera angles?

Hmmm...

If we're talking about the "beauty of the female form", we should be talking all forms. Focusing only on the "sexy" aspects in this manner is... hmmm... man... there's a word here somewhere...

This is new how? heck I remember the first DoA had the option to make breasts bounce or not. Sex sells, period.
