I have no problem with porn. In reality, porn IS appreciating the female form. Pretty much by definition (the porn intended to those who swing towards the fairer sex, of course). So hes not lieing. He is not giving technicalities. He's speaking professionally, and not gushing in an, "OMG tit are AWESOME" sort of juvenile way, but he is giving the facts, that if you like feminine naughty bits, this game has it in spades. Now we know that, and can make informed decisions about our purchases. I won't get it, and I know the reason why anyone would get it, but hey, if that floats your boat, bully for you. Appreciating the female form, and oggling T&A like a horny schoolboy are just rectangles and squares: the second is just a sub variety of the first. If that counts as degrading, well then every man on the planet has, will, and will always degrade woman on a constant basis. Make the male version, and lets all just call it even.

So basically it's just some Japanese dating sim game which instead of an anime style uses highly detailed 3D models. And since it's on the 360 and being released world wide they now find themselves scrambling to try and to justify or at least legitimize their strange cultural hobby to the mainstream media of other countries. And of course those of us that already know the deal just sit on the side and laugh.

Doesn't really do anything for me, but it makes me wonder why they don't just get it over already and make a full out porn game. I mean they can make an ultra violent game like "Manhunt", but say a "Manwhore" game would never fly. Just imagine it, you create your male character then must whore yourself out to women to earn stats & money so you can go after increasingly higher class/grade women! Maybe get some motion control in their for the appropriate creative use.

Well Tom, when I used to work at a game store I had to explain to people that the spin-offs were in fact just a softcore girl-on-girl dating simulator-type thing that Japan doesn't see anything wrong with the over-arching design of, but it's something where I also recall that the only people who buy sports games will either be fans of the sport, fans of the players, or in this case: fans of bikinis. But it is true that when you feel like you have to specifically defend yourself as adamantly to some question like "do you feel that these games you make are objectifying women" with "no, we just really like the grace and beauty of the female form" then you should know that as a developer you may be perving up your game too hard.

And the original games didn't have nearly as much plot as you would want from a game, some characters have a back-story wherein there may be more between her and her "best friend" who happens to be a girl, or a daddy's girl who decides to start wrestling people while he seems too obsessed with keeping her away from boys. I do feel like those games and the subsequent advertisements like the one for the first Xtreme and also for Dead or Alive 3 let you know that if you had a libido, then this game is the most you're going to spend on a game where the premise is... well tits and some other stuff that I don't recall having been explained. God only knows that the mechanics for gameplay are rubbish.

Just look at the covers of romance novels or what about those teenage magazines which is basicly "Maxim Magazine" for teenage girls that show young teen males and boys in photo spreads.

I quite like most of the DOA games and if I had a PSP I would almost certainly be buying Paradise.. but yes, the appearance of the characters if definitely a major attraction to the games. Of course, if the games were total garbage it wouldn't matter as much but good fun games plus sexy ladies works for me.

I love the Dead or Alive games. They just make me giggle.

Have you tried Rumble Roses? We got XX for something like 50p in a sale at GAME and it is hilarious. There is no discernable campaign mode, just a series of random matches that you have to keep doing for cash to buy progressively smaller bikinis for your girls to fight in.

It's also the game that got my roommate's wife into gaming, because it's so funny she had to play it.
