"[We] meant [it] to be a tribute to the beauty of the female form because we think that's all they're good for. Beautiful, happy, complacent women that giggle and wear next to nothing. That's what we wanted to show the player and want them to share our same respect for women as objects of desire - I mean jiggly things - I mean respect. A respect for jiggly breasts and butts."

Yeah, but it'll just blow up, sink under the waves, and get eaten by a shark.

Hey, I agree. The female form is a beautiful thing....in all of it's forms, from the real to the hyper-stylized.

I don't see what women have to object to these games. The only men who play them are ones you wouldn't screw anyways, and if you did want to sex them up, just show them your real boobs and they will drop the game faster than you can say "Kasumi taking a bath".

DOA Extreme, I think is truly all about T and A. Or "appreciation of the female beauty" if you are trying to be PC.

However, to play the devil's advocate, the main series of games, at least from the 4th one, have a pretty solid fighting system, and the storyline is surprisingly complex for a fighting game. Not Soul Calibur level, but it's not the "lolboobfest" that a lot of people make it out to be if you actually sit down to try it out.

Personally, I'll be willing to accept their excuse when we have the counterpart made for straight female gamers. You know, shirtless, attractive men in little or no clothing being the focus of the game rather than something there for the male audience to project on to, if it's there at all.

Of course that would require actual heterosexual women to be queried about their desires. God forbid!

...Oh wait, no it's not, Team Ninja is full of crap - sure, you may be earnest in your appreciation for the female form, but that doesn't make you any less creepy, or voyeurs.
You say voyeur like it's a bad thing.

Wait, I think I got things mixed up there...

Then again, I did buy DOA:X2.
In my defense, I was twelve, they had boobs, it was a match made in heaven. For those of you still interested in buying these games (the spinoffs, I can't account for the 'real' thing), just replay the video up there a couple of times (which is the intro to DOA:X2, incidentally, so either that's not the offical trailer for this new PSP game, or Team Ninja can't even be bothered to render new boobies anymore.) and you'll have the same experience, with a lot less frustration, for a lot less cash.

I also like to celebrate women in scantily clad clothes playing a game that involves a lot of jumping and jiggling.

This is also from the company that advertises with boobs in walls. I love DoA dont get me wrong I just wish they would just come out and say WE LIKE BOOBIES!!!!! YAY!!!!

Anyone here old enough to remember the part of the feminist movement when a woman dressing provocatively was considered empowerment and not degrading? When it was considered the expression of the power of a woman and the freedom they had to dress how they wanted regardless of how society felt?

If i didn't know any better i would say that this was a boob simulator and not a game. Funny that.

Well I'm sure I will have no problem playing this on the bus every morning on my nice portable handheld gaming system, the PSP.

Also, I read your article out of one corner of my eye while watching the video out the other, and couldn't help but bust out laughing. The only 'tribute to the female form' present here is the monument to be erected in the viewer's pants.

According to this, we've reached the part where it's empowering for a woman to be provocatively dressed digitally by a team of male game designers, and then given boobs the size of the moon! Man, how far we've come.

Well I was slightly aroused I'll give them that. :p

But yeah it's an obvious sexploitation game, nothing new there. I don't think anyone expected anything else from them anyway.

I could never take DOA seriously, it takes what was originally fan service to new levels of "we're fucking with you."
Same here, just waaaay too much fan service for me and I generally don't mind some of that type of stuff.
