Dead or Alive: Paradise's Swaying Boobs Don't Degrade Women

You know... I've never understood why something like this is so bad in the first place.

Degrading? No, porn is not degrading to women. Jerry Springer is degrading to women (and pretty much all of humanity). Twilight is degrading to women. You could even say Mario (with the helpless princess) is degrading to women.

Porn gives women power, men in history have simply been clever enough to trick them that it's "evil" power. A sexy body is not some sinful cage trapping an otherwise "pure" and "virtuous" woman, it's part of them. As long as they're comfortable and happy doing what they do (even if that's prancing around half-dressed and provoking the boys) then more power to them.

So what if they're "sex objects?" Is any woman here going to seriously try and tell me that they have a deep personal connection with every human being they've ever met? Even porn stars and friends and loved ones. Just because the ENTIRE WORLD doesn't see them that way doesn't mean we're all evil, and it definitely doesn't mean we're incapable of connection with a person closer to us. Next time you think of what a slut some beach model is, stop and think how much better it would be to be her than a 400 lb whale at Wal-Mart in a dirty shirt and sweatpants. THAT is an image that's truly degrading to women.

I don't think Ueda's the one at fault here, I think it's our outdated morals. Better to be an object of desire than an object of disgust.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the original DOA Developer Itagaki get fired/sued for sexual harassment of female co-workers?

Because after Beach Volleyball, that wasn't a hint that this dude might have SOME issues with females?

Interesting comment. Did you ever read the second in the Sin City books, A Dame to Kill for? There's a character there that your post reminded me of.

I attempted to play DOAX2 on the Xbox 360, which is essentially a rejection simulator, and have come to view it as very likely the worst game ever made. It is dull, the characters have absolutely no charm, it is a soulless overblown piece of steamy shit. I'd actually forgotten how much I revile that game until I played the video in the article and felt my chest seize up with rage.

This is hardly porn, this is hardly explicit, it just strikes a certain nerve with people that continue to view video games as infantile and gore as being more acceptable than sexuality. I don't get the mindset, but I respect the right to have it.

Team Ninja, it's pretty bloody obvious that everything you said to defend your rather expensive soft porn is totally bullshit. I just watched that trailer to see what all the fuss was about and frankly it's despicable. That trailer is the most blatently crude form of advertising I have ever seen for...well...anything, ever. These guys need to grow up and join the rest of the ENTIRE WORLD in realising that this shit doesn't fly.

EDIT: As well as that I still haven't got a fucking idea what the game is supposedly about. No where in that trailer does it actually detail anything useful to sell the game on it's gameplay elements. If I were to go on that trailer alone, I'd just assume it's entirely about walking around eating icecream and climbing trees in a stupendously flurtatious manner...for no reason. I have no idea what this game is, and frankly I don't care. Honestly I'm really not sure why they still insist on calling these games Dead or Alive. may aswell just re-coin it as Depraved or ASSLOL, because that's what seems to be Team Ninja's mentality for the past 9-10 years.

I love the Dead or Alive games. They just make me giggle.
Have you tried Rumble Roses? We got XX for something like 50p in a sale at GAME and it is hilarious. There is no discernable campaign mode, just a series of random matches that you have to keep doing for cash to buy progressively smaller bikinis for your girls to fight in.

It's also the game that got my roommate's wife into gaming, because it's so funny she had to play it.
Of course I have. It's a riot. The wrestling is actually pretty good, and you just plain have to laugh at how over the top the sexuality is.

When it comes to appreciating women, I guess this guy has all of us "breast"ed.

*brick'd for bad pun*

I'm sorry, Team Ninja, but isn't the series supposed to be about fighting?

Additionally, these are the same laughable jiggle physics we saw in Xtreme... and in all those 3D sex games that 1/4 of the people here probably have on their hard drive. So does that mean Sexy Beach 3 is a tribute to the beauty of women?

The poor DOA franchise; once a nicely done fighter filled with beautiful women with nice assets to boot. Now it's just some smut with a tacked on sports event and fanservice. Mind you, fanservice is fine and dandy: once you get a successful franchise like DOA with some hot women thrown it, a few bikini pics of the bustiest character is inevitable, but it's fine; you see it in anime all the time. But once you turn the whole franchise into fanservice, no one takes it serious anymore.

Is it just me, or did the trailer for this game look similar to the one they had for second volleyball game? Makes me think it's just going to be the second game, just releasing it on the PSP.

But seriously, the PSP? I'd say put it on the PS3. People will look at those playing the game in public with a weird face on their PSP's. But it's nice to see that Team Ninja is putting more the Dead or Alive franchise onto more consoles, instead of that X-box exclusive bullcrap.

I've learned over time that everything that isn't empowering to women is degrading them.

I'm glad being a guy isn't that complicated. Someone makes one of my kind sparkle and I don't shit all over the walls.

Just think people would be more comfortable with their genders by now.

You know, filling movies and games with tits made sense a decade or two ago, but we have the Internet now. We no longer need to buy a sixty-dollar game to see tits--not when all the tits we could ever want are just a Google image search away.

Also, Japan is still weird.

What I notice is that there's nothing in the trailer to show there's actually a game involved here. If you didn't know about 'dead or alive' background, would you know it was meant to be a videogame? There's nothing there but music and tits.

I don' think he's actually lying, might say more about me than it does about him, but I do think he means it.

I just think in Japan they have different standards.

So, I suppose, a woman bouncing around in a bikini is like another day at the beach for them.
Because they don't have a culture where you pretend sex and girly parts don't exist, unlike America.

These being the Dead or Alive girls, thus hailing from a fighting game, you can't say they're not empowered.

Drooling Fanboy: "Oh, wow, I'd love to feel your bumpmaps."
Dead Or Alive Girl: "I can break 14 bones in 5 seconds."
Drooling Fanboy: "..."
