Dead Rising 3 Trailer Fixes It With Duct Tape

Dead Rising 3's latest CG trailer shows that it hasn't quite sacrificed the game's quirky humor for the sake of gritty realism.

When Dead Rising 3 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124779-Dead-Rising-3-Exclusive-to-Xbox-One], the latest installment in Capcom's Zombie sandbox series, was revealed, Microsoft told us it had gone for a more "serious" approach. The latest CG trailer shows that it may not be quite as serious as we had initially expected, showing that the trademark outlandish Dead Rising humor is still prevalent.

The trailer shows new hero Nick Ramos getting into a bit of a sticky situation, being rescued by newcomer Annie, showing off his duct-tape fu, encountering a zombie that can use a shotgun, and finally... well, let's just say he uses his mechanic skills to produce a thing of beauty and magnificence.

It's all in CGI, but it does offer a glimpse at the way we will be able to create custom weapons and vehicles in the game, as well as some of the game's new zombie types. Dead Rising 3 will reportedly be larger than both previous games combined, will allow players to create weapons on-the-fly instead of having to visit a workbench, and apparently has no loading screens.

It was previously revealed that the love-it-or-hate-it feature of the previous games: the "race against the clock," won't feature in Dead Rising 3 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/126129-Dead-Rising-3-Ditches-The-Race-Against-The-Clock], in a move that the developer says allows players to take their time exploring the game's world.

Dead Rising 3 is an Xbox One exclusive, and is shaping up to be one of, if not the definitive launch title for the system when it launches in November.

I wonder if they managed to make it interesting to play after a few hours, once the novelty wears off and the constant zombie-mashing grind becomes depressingly repetitive?

wow... I was rooting for the zombies during the entire thing. Now Frank from the first (and the second, sort of) DR was never a very deep character, but these two "characters" just made me cringe.

At first I thought that it was the main character wearing that dress pushing an explosive-filled baby carriage.

That was....so....stupid. The creation at the end was an abomination. I just....

I must have it.

Why do i have the dark brown feeling that, since the zombies can apparently use shotguns and other weapons now, this game will go on a Call of Duty-esk tour and become more cover based shooting.

That ride at the end looked pretty sweet though.

You lost me when the zombie had a gun. Why do people, especially the knuckle-draggers at Capcom keep doing that? NEVER has there been a game that's pulled this crap that hasn't been a cataclysmic turd.

EDIT: I'm gonna harp on this a bit more. Capcom, a company that has never made a shooter even half-way competant, is introducing a mechanic that will almost certainly make it so that gunplay is a more appealing/necessary "option" than it was in the last games in the series (where zeds couldn't use guns and when the player used them they were all but useless with limited exception). Did the entire dev team start huffing paint? Did they celebrate their new assignment by cracking out the fine assortment of beverages one would keep under the fucking sink?

If they would just get rid of the smart glass exclusive bullshit I would seriously consider getting an Xbone for this. Now that MS has decided suicide is not the path they wish the Xbone to take, that is.

STALKER says hi. Zombified stalkers there not only can use their guns, but can reload them as well. Only thing they don't seem to do is actually aim down their sights anymore. As a result, these guys are pretty inaccurate. I'd imagine that the zombies in DR3 should be about as inaccurate as that (which I'd guess that the shotgun spread in DR2 muliplied by 3 wouldn't be a bad assumption of their inaccuracy).

Am I the only who think this trailer would be much better if it also blasted some form of rock or punk after he created that first weapon?

It is still a good trailer.. Just.. you know, it needed a bitchin' soundtrack.

Sunset Overdrive style sort of.

Too bad it's on the console I won't get (Sorry, I like the games on the PS4 more and have a hefty dislike for Microsoft in general)

However, I'm glad for the people who actually plan on getting this console that this game actually looks halfway decent now. (Imho still not as good as the first two though)

Someone needs to see Day of the Dead.

To say the least though, I do agree the game should be less about guns and more about creating interesting combos with whatever you find. I mean guns are supposed to be a rarity in a zombie apocalypse, used when you find one until the clip runs out then go back to melee.

Still, at least this is mildly less depressing than the initial gameplay trailer and if they just gave it more colour it would start feeling more like a sequel to Dead Rising 2.
