I have a powerful gaming PC but I hear the PC version is somehow inferior to the PS3 version. I played the original on the PC and apart from the vsync issue I never had a problem. However I also have a PS3. So help me out, which version is better: PS3 or PC?

I'm a PC gamer, I don't have a console of any type. I'd say the PS3, and I'd say rent it, but I really didn't like my Dead Space experience.

Limited version on the PS3 features Extraction, the onrails Wii shooter, with move compatibility and buffed graphics. And a free hamburger.

I'm a ps3 player but I'd say the pc if you have a strong enough one. Once you get bored of the ps3 version it's done, but I'm sure pc will put out enough mods later to keep it interesting.

PS3. There were pretty much zero mods for Dead Space 1, so forget that. Also, the PC version will never get any DLC, or so I'm told. Plus, the PS3 version has a free game if you have the Move kit.

PC, obviously. Anti aliasing + anisotropic filtering + 60fps + mouse aiming = WIN (assuming they've fixed the mouse aiming, that is).

I know me and my friend who're playing it will get for the PS3. This is mostly due to the fact that my friend has a mean surround sound setup system. I don't think there's that much difference between the two versions. I think it'll mostly come down to which of your systems you prefer and which one has the better setup.

Dead Space 1 was a craptacular port.
Agreed. But Visceral promised to fix that in Dead Space 2. Unfortunately not one review has even mentioned whether the DS2 port is any good, or whether it fixes the crappy control issues that PS1 had. It's a conspiracy! They've all been paid to shut up! Seriously, is anyone reading this currently playing DS2 on PC and, if so, have the mouse/keyboard control issues from DS1 been fixed?

Edit:
Aha! Today, google is (finally) my friend.

From what I heard the controls are quite a bit better, but there's still mouse acceleration that you can't turn off. More opinions are appreciated, I'm still on the fence about this.

As someone who's played both the pc and console versions, i would highly suggest the pc version. On full graphics the game looks significantly better and when you turn off V sync the frames run much smoother as console games typically run at 30 or so frames most of the time.

And yes, the controls have been fixed since the first one, mouse controls on DS2 are very smooth and accurate.

I played the first one on PS3 and it was really good. However, considering you have to shoot the freaking limbs of these monsters... I'm going to go with PC this time. Although, it was nice that I only rented it originally. Can't rent PC games...

So, if I buy it'll be on PC if I rent, obviously on PS3.

I picked up the original Dead Space on Steam this weekend for like 7 bucks. It's kind of funny because it's so painfully obvious the game was designed for consoles.

There's so many parts where something jumps out of the floor, wall, off the ground, etc etc and starts coming towards you. Sometimes there's more than one, sometimes they run and jump a little. They give such a huge amount of time to react to everything, you might as well be shooting ducks. I suppose carefully aiming and shooting off limbs of several necromorphs in a group would be tough with an analog stick, but with a mouse it's a fucking joke.

Anyhow, you have a powerful gaming rig, so you should use it. Go with the PC version.

The other option is a PC.

OT: I haven't played it, but shit ain't scary when you're sat at least a metre from the screen.

I sport both a PS3 and a PC. I've always been a PC gamer so if a PC version is available, I always go for it. It also is usually cheaper but I don't know if that's the case with Dead space 2. The first one ran great on my PC so I have no reservations about getting the sequel on PC also.
