Adtonitus looked upon the black being hunched upon the cliff. He heard it speak.

"We are Executor, and this world will feed us."

Adtonitus did not recognize this creature. It was not one of the Fragments of the Creator. But suddenly, Adtonitus clutched at his head as fleeting memories passed before his eyes. Darkness. Screams. And above all else, the terror of its victims. The creator had known about Executor, and had used his powers to keep the, the thing away. Adtonitus decided to address the creature, but stopped as he thought of what to call himself. Zeus was the first name that flew into his mind. But as the associated memory drew itself together, he immediately rejected the arrogance of the title. Still, he had liked the Romans...

Nodding to himself, Adtonitus spoke, his voice like thunder rumbling over the hills. "I am Adtonitus. You shall not have this world. You have already sated thy hunger upon the deaths of a hundred worlds. This one has the chance to be born again and it shall not be taken away!" This last sentence echoed throughout the desert. "Leave now."

"Both. This world, and all who resist will be devoured. What are you?"

Executor did not have any eyes, but it was clear that it was regarding Dreth coldly. Executor's many tentacles seemed to reach towards Dreth without moving. After the newcomer finished shouting, Excutor addressed it without moving.

"What are you? On whose authority do you claim to stop me? WHY ARE YOU?"

Really? It says he landed in your previous post. But whatever, it makes little difference to the post. Duly noted.

Adtonitus frowned. He still couldn't control his voice yet. He could control the volume but there was still that strange feeling of bass, that vibrated the beings within hearing. "As for what I am, I am Adtonitus. Upon whose authority I act, I choose to answer that with a question of mine own. What gives you the right to destroy what others have created? Why are YOU?" He said coldly. Adtonitus shook his head in scorn for the black creature. "When you have an answer for thine destruction, so too will you have an answer for my protection. You are like a petulant child, screaming and destroying what it cannot understand!"

Well you did say it landed right above the cliff, but I'll note that from now on.

Dreth listened as the being, Executor as it called itself, responded to his question with one of its own. Several of its tentacles moved, and at the same time not, towards Dreth; telling him that Executor was confident in its power. Before Dreth could give an answer he was interupted by a shout that cracked through the air. This being, while only the size of a large human, spoke with the same confidence in its declarations as the massive being of darkness that it addressed.

Obviously another Colossus. And somewhat self-righteous as well. Dreth thought to himself.

"I amm Ddrrreetthhh, beeinng off deecaay anndd mmasssterr off ruuinn. Iff yoou havve gorrgge yoourssselff upoonn tthhisss worrld, Ie wwilll reemaainn ass itt rrottsss."

Amphitrite dove into her safe haven again. This time the cause was a cold deep voice that echoed across the land.

"We are Executor and this world will feed us."

She saw several beings, some she recognized as other Colossi, but this one in particular had a dangerous air about him. She wondered whether to stay or to leave: this situation was becoming very perilous indeed...

The ruckus being raised on the horizon was impossible to miss. Voices booming about "the world feeding us" or some-sort. Beings that V had a feeling wouldn't be so keen on a heart to heart conversation about the positive qualities of not attempting to crush him.

V's eyes quickly darted back to the river. It didn't seem to be actively advancing as it had been a moment ago.

Well, it's worth a shot in the dark. Best to still tread lightly.

He dashed as quickly as he could to the body of water, silently hoping that if there was something there, it would respond to reason.

"Hello? Is there someone here?"

The desert was still as the behemoths argued on the mountain. It was not becoming of them to do that, Amphitrite thought. Perhaps it would be better to go back to sleep in the abyss and dream of peace. Before she could leave, she heard a voice much closer to her.

"Hello? Is there someone here?"

Amphitrite popped her head out of the water, and gasped. It was a fox! She had thought that all the animals had perished, or that they all looked like those mutants at the edge of the water. No, it made no sense. This must be one of her brothers. She felt the familiar warmth and decided she was safe enough to at least talk to it.

"Hello, friend! I'm Amphitrite!" she bubbled, her voice similar to the sound of a brook.

"Hello, friend! I'm Amphitrite!"

As these cheerful words hit his ears, a wave a relief washed over V. It had been a bit reckless just charging to the water without being absolutely certain what he would encounter. Fortunately, it seemed as though this being had no ill intentions at all.

She must be the Colossus of water. Luck must be on my side today.

V smiled warmly at Amphitrite and cordially bowed his head.

"Hello Amphitrite. They call me Velox Vulpes. You can call me V."

He beckoned towards the unseemly sight unfolding upon the mountain.

"You wouldn't happen to be any more privy to whatever's going on over there than I am, would you? It seems we could have a dangerous situation unfolding."

"Oh, I've only just got here, I'm sorry... Those colossi, I think I know them. The smelly one, that is the Colossus of Decay. That one sounds like... Adtonitus. I haven't seen him in a long time. He is the Thunder Colossus. The third one... I've never seen him. He scares me. Out of the three, only Adtonitus is reasonable. This could be bad. Really bad."

Amphitrite watched the colossi. They were still bickering, but it looked like the situation was escalating.

V sat on his haunches, content to watch for now.

"I'm familiar with Adtonitus. We've had dealings in the past. The other two...not so much. I prefer to avoid unreasonable powers."

He beckoned towards the dark floating colossus.

"That...thing looks both powerful and unreasonable. I really wouldn't want to be caught off guard by it."

He paused for a moment, choosing his words carefully.

"Listen, I don't know if you've felt it too, but there something very big on the horizon. I'm not entirely sure what yet, but I feel a war brewing. If this happens, I don't think it would be wise to be without friends."

V let his words trail off, certain Amphitrite would understand his meaning.

This would be a dangerous time. He would need allies.

Amphitrite watched the being sadly, nodding her head at V's statement.

"It is a sad day when we must form alliances to fight our own kin. I cannot say that I will help you wage a war, Velox Vulpes... but I will not forget your kindness."

The colossus slowly melted back into the river.

"You shall not be defenseless... I will stay by your side..."

And with that, the woman was gone, leaving only an oasis in the middle of the desert.

"Thank you."

The beast closed his eyes and sighed.

This is going to be a dangerous game. If this is what I think it is, then we're going to require more help.

"It might not be the smartest idea, but I think a conversation with Adtonitus is in order."

With that, V moved slowly and silently towards the mountain. He would bide his time, watching for an opportunity to talk to the Thunder Colossus without attracting the attentions of the unpredictable parties.

Leaping between the peaks of mountains with ease, Glacia looked down at the scene unfolding below her, stopping on a mountain peak. Well, time to step in, it seemed. Sliding down the mountain on a sheet of ice, she jumped off, landing behind the colossi. "What have we here, I wonder."

"Right? Creation?" Executor chuckled, or seemed to, "We are Executor. We will harvest this world as we have so many others. We are your salvation, not destruction. Our hunger will preserve you at the apex of your perfection."

Just wondering, what kind of doom did eventually kill of humanity? I've gone for the nuclear apocalypse version, but I'll edit if that doesn't fit

They fight.

The Land sleeps heavily indeed. It slept through the chaotic forces of nature, it dreamed even as mankind tore itself apart in atomic fire, but now it could feel it's cousin gathering their strength and preparing for war

In their mindless rivalry, they do not care for the Earth. Their war will scar the world and leave it burning.

This cannot be permitted.

Stirred by an ancient spirit, the mountains tremble as the Earth rises in it's own defence. The rocks begin to move, the plains echo with it's steps and whole continents shake as the hills begin to march

The Jotun stod tall, ready to face these squabbling things and quieten their silly war.

Amphitrite shuddered as she felt the Earthfather stir. It had been eons since he had been awake.

This does not bode well... to think that this has awakened the Earth colossus...

She thought about V's words.

"I feel a war brewing. If this happens, I don't think it would be wise to be without friends.

Perhaps she too, had to prepare for war. Amphitrite decided to find the Earthfather. Perhaps he would not be angry at her.
