Deadly Premonition Director's Cut Heads To Steam Greenlight

The PS3 all-new scenario from Swery is included, you say?

Swery fans, rejoice, as Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/122817-Deadly-Premonition-Directors-Cut-Arrives-On-April-30] is headed to Steam Greenlight. This edition of the occult ... well, maybe surreal is a better word ... hell, just call it mind-bending search for the killer of Anna Graham, previously only seen on PS3, will include the new scenario from Hidetaka 'Swery' Suehiro, as well as better textures and PC-exclusive bonus DLC content. As with any other Greenlight title, this needs community support before it becomes a thing, but given what it is that support shouldn't be long in coming.

"Steam's Greenlight process is a first for Rising Star Games and there is nothing better than the cult hit Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut to make our mark on it," says publisher Rising Star Games' Martin Defries. "Our vocal fans have been calling for a PC version of this game, so using Steam Greenlight gives those fans the chance to make a difference."

If you like it and you want it, go and vote [http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/updates/160687506/1373971165]; the quicker this gets Greenlit, the quicker the Raincoat Killer will be brought to justice.

Yes, yes , YES!!!!!!!!
I have been wanting to play this game for a long time now. In fact, it was just last week when I checked if there was any hint for a PC port from the developer. I am very glad it will be appearing on my favourite platform. I hope. Yahtzee gets to review it too.

YEEEEESSS!

Oh, man. I loved this game on 360. Was really bummed out I would never be able to get the directors cut. I've been watching the Two Best Friends Play LP and it keeps making me want to relive the insanity. To Greenlight!

After watching Matt and Patt play I say bring it on! If I can enjoy Command and Conquer 4 if I can enjoy this game!

Let me take a couple of snippets from Jim's review of the original version on 360 as to why you PC players should vote this up.

Deadly Premonition is beautiful. No, not graphically. Graphically it's atrocious. It's a beautiful trainwreck, and it's well aware of the fact. Despite this game being quite like everything ever made, there's nothing quite like the game itself. There is absolutely nothing in this industry that can compare to how weird and wonderful the whole experience is. Judged as a piece of entertainment, as a game that consistently surprises and amazes and leaves jaws hanging, I have no choice but to say that Deadly Premonition goes above and beyond. This game is so bad, it's not just become good. It's pretty close to perfect.
Deadly Premonition is like watching two clowns eat each other. It's perverse, it's wrong, and yet it's so fucking funny.
As someone who has played the game, I couldn't describe it better myself, and heartily recommend it.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
You need a comma or a ; in your title, right now it sounds like the director of deadly premonition is cutting off heads.

Oh man, I love it. I hope more developers start doing this. Voted.

Deadly Premonition is my favorite game that I have never played. I watched both Giant Bomb Endurance Runs, Super Great Friend's LP of it on Something Awful, and have been following Two Best Friend's run of the Director's Cut since I can't really afford getting it myself (really want to though, my PS3 aches for it).

It getting greater availability and eternal life in Steam is an absolute good.

You've got me intrigued. Where would you put it? Or has the title changed since you made that post? It hardly seems like much of a crash blossom to me. (This one about bishops is my favourite ever.)

Anyway, I'm pretty excited about this being released. I don't have access to many consoles, and I've been avoiding finding out anything about it for years in the hope that I'd be able to play it one day. Never thought it would come to the PC, though.

Why does this game have to go through Greenlight? Its publisher already has a game on Steam. That's how the ungodly aweful
WarZ got to go on Steam with no extra process.

Geez Greenlight is so broken.

Ack! Well I try not to be a language prescriptivist (I'm a fiction editor, and there's nothing worse than someone coming in and trampling over your sentence rhythms), but that would be VERY non-standard. You're adding punctuation purely to dispel an ambiguity that doesn't really exist. If "heads" isn't a verb, then what is? Do people talk about "Cut Heads" as something someone can possess?

Sorry, this is a bit weird. But I'm a UK editor working with mostly US clients, so I'm always interested in things like this. But I think this sounds like a case of hyper-correction.

My only worry with Deadly Premonition is that it will be vastly overwritten. I love Japanese mystery games, but I have a hard time getting through them. Even Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton would benefit from some serious trimming. I want to love them, but all the repetition just saps my enjoyment. I found the Miles Edgeworth Game a real chore.

So are they going to fix and patch the PS3 version or maybe even hand them a slice of that DLC?, seeing as how the PS3 now has nothing unique at all for the game and PC has everything and a bonus.

I would love to add this to the backlog for the PS3 but I guess that ain't going to happen now the "super best" version is head above all others, sigh.

Is this really happening? Wow, this is certainly unexpected news.

I've heard so many great things about this game so I will checking this out.

After watching LP's of this all I can say is this game is awful, and stupid, and dumb.......but so very entertaining. It definitely falls into the so bad it's good category. I'm curious as to how much better it'll look on PC. Hell, if the price is right, I'll snag a copy.

-snip-
No lie, that review is how I found Destructoid and became a fan of Jim Sterling. I knew almost nothing of the game when I picked it up. Got it on a whim, because it was cheap in the second hand section. Played through it, loved it and thought:"No way in hell did this review well." Out of curiosity, I googled 'Deadly Premonition review' and ended up (amongst others) at Jims review. Every paragraph left me nodding my head with a smile on my face. Truly, Jim understands precisely what makes that game a wonderful, terrible, glorious, awful, brilliant disaster. The day it hits a Steam sale, I'll probably just start forcing copies on people in my friends list.
