I imagine a lot of people are aware of the horrible problems with Metallica's album, "Death Magnetic." I'm referring to the recording issues, of course. Basically, the recording quality is awful. There's a lot of distortion and clipping.

But someone noticed that these problems weren't present on the Guitar Hero version of the album and someone finally put out a high-quality mix. It sounds much, much better, especially at the 1411 kbps bit rate. If you're an audiophile like I am, then this is perfect.

Here's a link:

Put on your headphones and enjoy some amazing-quality music. It sounds great.

Anyway, tell us your thoughts on this mix or complain about the original mix if you'd like. I'm also feeling generous, so feel free to discuss Metallica and Death Magnetic in general.

Also, I brought cool-whip and strawberries, so dig in.

EDIT: Here's a link to a video that puts the two versions side-by-side. GH meaning Guitar Hero, and CD being the original version, if you were wondering.

The government slowly began killing off metallica in 1986 with cliff burton. After the And Justice for all tour Lars and James were killed and replaced with robots. Ever since then the government has controlled the crappy music they put out. Poor kirk is left alive in the group as you can tell by the way he acts in the some kind of monster video

Jason Newsted was a government spy the whole time. But then he grew a conscience and just couldn't stomach it anymore so he quit...

...and then he was replaced by a gorilla.

If I remember right, the recording quality wasn't the main complaint with Death Magnetic.
And what do you remember as the main complaint?

I've got the album (pretty much when it was released) but haven't noticed anything wrong with the recording.

Like the album, love the band, didn't see what all the complaining was about.

I can't say that I've listened to the album, or even know more than one song from it. But most people tell me it's just pretty meh in general. Not as annoying as St. Anger, but not really good either.

I am the only person in the world who loves Death Magnetic. This is obvious to me, as everyone seems to think it's worse than St. Anger. I mean, WHAT.

I like all of Metallica's stuff. Yes, even stuff after the Black Album.

And man, people just whine and whine and whine about how Metallica started to suck after ...And Justice. THERE'S an album with shit production, not Death Magnetic. Get over yourselves.

Wait... really? It's their best album since the Black Album by far. There's no way it's worse than that abomination.

I'm going to have to agree. Also, if we're going by anything Metallica did past 1988, I will have to strongly agree.
