Death Note: "Quillsh" or "Quillish"?

OK, so a minor thing's been bugging me for a while. The real first name of Death Note's Watari. Is it "Quillsh", as the romanization would have us believe? Or "Quillish", as it seems more plausible as an English name and it may just be a Japanese-English-Japanese translation error (like Aiber and Wedy's real first names being rendered "Tierry" and "Merrie" respectivelyy, rather than "Thierry" and "Mary).

From a Google search, it's apparent that the former "Quillsh" is more prevalent, and it seems that's what the fan community goes with. But the latter "Quillish" appears to be more realistic, and numerous people have it as a surname (and surnames can be first names too; e.g. "Kingsley"). So which is it?

I recall hearing somewhere that Ohba intentionally used fractured or misspelled names so there wouldn't ever be an actual person's name written in the Death Note. Don't know if that's true, though.

Yeah, Wikipedia cites Ohba in the guidebook, How to Read as saying that he chose character names that "seemed real but could not exist in the real world", because most of the characters were criminals and victims. But I'm not sure if he's just talking about the weird rendering of Light's name (Misa initally misread his name as "Moon Yagami" because of the kanji), and/or the possible fact that none of the characters share names with actual criminals and victims, because names like "Shuichi Aizawa", "Dwight Gordon" (the Mafia boss Rod Ross' real name), and "Anthony Carter" (the SPK member Rester's real name) seem real enough.

...Unless he intended for the spellings to be fractured or misspelled. Like how, in Japanese, Rod Ross' real name is "Dwhite Godon" rather than "Dwight Gordon". But maybe I'm overestimating him, since he admits that, at least in terms of the story, he didn't think that far ahead: mostly, just that he wanted Death Note to end at 108 chapters.

Admittedly, many of the characters in Death Note have quite strange names (such as L's real name, only revealed in How to Read).

Well, yeah, but you also need to know the person's face and to be thinking about them or they won't die. The precaution wasn't necessary

Dunno if this is at all relevant, probably just an error, but at one point there is a man named Larry Connors (I think that's his last name). But, there was a document with his first name saying Rally. I always thought it was odd

Since the name was first "made" in japanese, there is no correct alphabetical spelling to it.
If the author says that that is how he wants it to be spelled, than that is the official and correct spelling.

Like, tsu could be spelled tu.
I heard that the same goes for Korean names too?
