Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Combat is a cover based affair, and a heavy combat play through is entirely viable. It works well enough, though it feels a bit clunky at times. Firing from cover requires three separate key presses. Combat seems to produce a kind of sulk from the game. The game uses resource starvation to encourage the player to find alternate approaches, however, the starvation seems to have been geared for a console, meaning stockpiling substantial amounts of ammunition is quite possible.

The game does have one serious flaw, in that there are wrong choices to be made in character development. The increased jump height, and hacking augmentations allow access to far more resources, and non-combat equipped players may find the boss battles insurmountable.

In the end, Deus Ex is a flawed but very enjoyable game. Fans of the original should absolutely pick it up. Players who want absolute freedom, or are looking for an open world sandbox should probably look elsewhere. The story is fairly good conspiracy fiction, but the actual ending is a bit disappointing. This game is about the journey, not the destination.
