First Assassins Creed, now Deus Ex. Montreal is becoming pretty big in gaming. Makes me proud to be Canadian.

If they pull Thief 4 off too they'll be able to flip their dicks out with the best of them.
At first I was worried as hell about Thief 4, worried it won't live up to the franchise.
After playing Human Revolution, I think they know what they're doing.

If they pull of Thief 4, I'll gladly enjoy their dick flipping.

Holy shit yeah! That's awesome, and as it was mentioned a nice change of pace from all the laying off that's been happening. Certainly another cause for celebration among the Eidos Montreal staff.

Go, go, Gadget Thief 4!
Don't you mean Thi4f? Or is it Th4ef?
Quite you! If everyone just calls it Thief 4, maybe they'll get the point!

Congrats Eidos Montreal, you deserve it. It's not often a government does things like this for game devs so I'm sure they feel honored. And I hope Square Enix treats them just as nicely.

This is probably a mistake. So yes, Deus Ex HR is a great game. They pulled it off with the staff they had. Now they're going to double in size, the next game is probably not going to be twice as popular as Deus Ex HR, so they'll fire half of the studio again - or just simply close it has it'd be seen as unprofitable.

Why can't they see that coming when it happens every year is beyond me.

Now if only I could work there without being seen as a hillbilly for not speaking French, I'd pack up and move there just for the chance to work for any of those companies.

While rural Quebec is very french-centric, i can guarantee you that Montreal is perfectly bilingual, you can get by no problems without speaking more than hi and bye in french...

Nice article, lost a lot of content in translation though, nice points.

- this'll double Eidos Montreal's size, to a little under 700 employees total
- this is the third time the Quebec gvt gave a direct grant to a videogame developper (Warner Brothers 7.5M$ and THQ 3.1M$) on top of the almost 40% tax refund software developpers gets in QC
- the grant was given by investissement-Quebec, a provincial governement unit responsible for encouraging industry growth in Quebec, the money they use is actually part of the provincial pension fund, this is not federal money, not that it really matters...
- the EA Montreal studio size is a little misleading, since they counted EA Montreal and Bioware Montreal.
- Square Enix was also negotiating with Ontario and British Columbia for a new studio, they decided to expand the Montreal one instead.

Very happy for Eidos Montreal, i'm glad to see my "tax dollars" put to good use.

Eidos Montreal is one of the best developers out there, hopefully this will make them release more than one game a year.
