Did the guys that made Hotline Miami hate russians?

I just finished reading Hotline Miami Wildlife and it's... made me take an odd view of the game. The comic makes it seem like it isn't just the russian mafia we are attacking, but that somehow all russian people are tied to this shady life.

I'm wondering if the Dev's are from one of those satellite countries that don't have a good opinion of the ruskies.

The devs are Swedish and we don't think very highly of Russia but I wouldn't say we hate them. I'm not that in to the lore of Hotline Miami, but didn't the Russians pretty much take over the US? I know that atleast of the characters in Hotline Miami 2 hated all russians. I just think that they are the natural enemy of the US.

Do the devs of Hotline Miami had to do anything with the plot of the comic book? Does that mean Call of Duty: Modern Warfare devs hate russians as well? I can't answer you these questions, but my gut says no.

Also, wonder no more: the devs behind HM are from Sweden.

I feel you're taking the mythos of a franchise where a character was literally eaten by his own character portrait a tad too seriously.

I seem to recall the second game ending in a nuclear war caused by American radicals, so if they hate Russians, they must loathe Americans. I doubt there's any real hate behind this, Russians actually like the game quite a bit. Everyone loves it. Even Toonami.

All Russians being evil thugs is a common trope in the exploitation films that Hotline: Miami takes inspiration from, so there's that.

I doubt it. The game is very much 80's themed and styled, and Russia was the go to badguy in those days. If it was set in the 00's it would've been Jihadists or something.
