[HEADING=3]This is spoiler heavy. You have been warned[/HEADING]

So I've been playing a lot of God of War 3 lately, but it wasn't until my second playthrough on Titan that I saw a very interesting scene after the end credits.

If you haven't played the game but are curious to know what I'm talking about, it is this: At the end of God of War 3, Kratos realizes that when he opened Pandora's Box in the first game, all the evil in it corrupted the Gods, while all the good got sealed in within himself. So he kills himself so that the power of hope will spread over the world, ensuring that neither gods nor titans can control humanity anymore.

So we think our hero is finally dead, as we see his dead body is spread out over the symbol of an eagle while the camera pans away and the credits start.

BUT WAIT! After the end credits, Kratos isn't there anymore, and a trail of blood can be seen leading towards the edge of a cliff.

So what does this mean? Will we see Kratos return in God of War 4 to kill Ganesh? Or possibly Jesus? Or was it simply Santa Monica Studious who wanted to tease us? Is Kratos even alive or did he fall to his death?

Considering that the developers have stated they want to continue Kratos' story, I'd say he's still alive.

Besides, we all know Kratos can't die.

And I thought that was really fucking awesome that after going through 3 games of not giving a shit about anyone, he kills himself for the good of the world.

I heard 3 was the end of the series, at least chronologically.

It's why I saw it called what Godfather 3 should have been.

Him and the sword were missing, but wasn't that the cliff , or at least it looked very similar, that he jumped off of before? I thought they might be trying to bring him back, but what would be left to do? As the OP said, killing Jesus? Is God of War going to rip of of Dante's Inferno now in some kind of twisted irony? It just feels like every major God and Titan, and every major hero has been killed in the game, and there really isn't much for him to do.

Well, he always cared about his family, but other than his family, he didn't care about anyone or anything but vengeance.

But still, that part was awesome and selfless of him unless I'm completely reading the reason why he did that wrong.

He could have done it simply because he didn't think there should be any Gods. Still, it was awesome of him.

But he should've killed that ***** Athena

Apart from the obvious "he's still alive", I like to also speculate that maybe he tried to off himself (Seeing as how the blood trail goes over a cliff) is a similiar manner as the first game (You know, "God's have abandoned me" shpeel). Probably not true, but just a thought.

I know he should have.

I liked Athena too. I thought she was the only God with any sense left until I realized she's just a selfish *****.

1) You aren't gonna kill of a main protaganist who is a cash cow.

2) I actually thought it was kind of stupid. I mean, Kratos was in the nicest terms a fucking douchebag, (a kickass douchebag, but a douchebag none the less).
gods: Kratos, even though you've mindlessly slaughtered countless number of.. things, you have the good of the world inside you.
Kratos: Ok cool. *chokes gods with a chain*

(That's how I saw it, and I've played the games, lol)

I have realized a pattern in God of War.

Kratos always, always gets betrayed. In God of War he was betrayed by Ares, in God of War 2 he was betrayed by Zeus, and in God of War 3 he was betrayed by both the titans AND Athena.

He just can't trust anyone.

.. What? He never choked a god with a chain after it was revealed that all the good in the world was inside him. That's when he killed himself to release it too the world.

You'd think he'd learn by then not to trust Gods or titans...

Ahem, it was a joke. >.<"
You missed the point of... KRATOS WAS A DOUCHEBAG TO EVERYONE.
I loved the GoW games, but thought the ending was... "meh"

Then I shall defend myself by saying that it was not a good joke!

And now I am completely safe from any blame whatsoever.

Right, back to getting my final trophy in GoW3

I like this Ganesh idea. I'd play that game. Hindu Gods would make awesome bosses.

This:

Would be awesome to fight.

Have him wake up in China or something, and have an entire trilogy of games being about Kratos in China.

THIS

Would be awesome to have as a boss.

I saw the video after the credits as just a filler. I was furious during the credits because I thought he was dead. In the end of the first game gaia said that kratos went on throughout history leading battles and wars on and it showed pictures of WW1, WW2, Vietnam, etc. So I think that the ending scene after the credits is just to show that he is still alive so it won't conflict with the ending of the first game.

I'd play that too.

Imagine the evisceration animation they'd have to do for that beastie. Hoo boy!
