Dirt 3 Collector's Edition Will Set You Back $300

Dirt fans with an extra 300 bucks kicking around might want to check out this ridiculous Dirt 3 Collector's Edition [http://www.gamestop.com/games/dirt-3-with-ken-block-gymkhana-rc-car-bundle/90811] that comes complete with a Ken Block Gymkhana RC Car.

Designed with the philosophy of "go big or go home" in mind, the Dirt 3 Ken Block Gymkhana RC Car Bundle is very big indeed. Or at least the price tag is: $299.99 at your local GameStop, to be precise, just a shade more than the $59.99 you'll fork over for the regular edition.

And what do you get for an extra 240 bones? A Model 7309 Ken Block Gymkhana Fiesta, fully assembled, Ready-To-Race®, with TQ 2.4GHz High Output radio system with Traxxas Link, Velineon® 380 motor, VXL-3m ESC, 7.2 volt NiMH battery & charger, and ProGraphix® painted body. I don't know what any of that actually means but I'm pretty sure it translates roughly into "toy car."

Okay, it's not just a toy and as the owner of a few "collectibles" of my own, I can't poke too much fun at this thing or anyone who buys it. And it's actually not a bad price as these things go, either; the car on its own lists for as high as $385 on Ken Block [http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B004ARQZOY/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&qid=1302192091&sr=8-1&condition=new] nut, this might actually be a pretty sweet deal. The Dirt 3 Ken Block Gymkhana RC Car Bundle comes out on May 24 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Im all for Collectors Editions on games, but seriously.

$300 is enough for a new console. Wii, PS3, 360, or one of those new handhelds.

As far as the Dirt series is, theyve all been kinda bland, in my opinion. Granted, I never got a full, indepth look at them, just a couple of hours. But yeah, nothing really grabbed me.

Id imagine if you make a collectable for $300, you better have a loyal fanbase to back it up.

I would love to see who would buy this instead of one of the new handhelds.

He must be wearing a car company t-shirt and matching cap with those obnoxious tinted sunglasses with thin white frames, complete with bluetooth headset. And wearing shorts.

Id post an image of what i mean, but google images is harsh like that.

As much as I WANT it, I don't just have $300 to drop on a game, even if it is a totally kickass game like Dirt. Dirt 2 was heaps of fun and had a freakin' sweet soundtrack. I'm looking forward to Dirt 3, but I won't be getting the special edition for it unless there's a price drop, that car WOULD look good with my other game collectibles.

I would love to have that car, it's not just an electric RC, it has an internal combustion engine and many more stuff, it's really like a micro rally car, also it's power-to-weight ratio ensures it is fast as hell and can slide pretty well.

$300 is quite a deal for the game and the car. These cars don't get much cheaper than that, at least the nice ones. Plus you get a collectible that, appart from looking good on your shelve, can be really fun.

Well, If you're part of the presumably incredibly small niche of racing game fan and collector of high-end functioning racing car scale models looking to expand, that's quite a bargain.

Otherwise, it's just way too extreme a price tag for a CE.

Don't you try and talk me into this! I'm having a hard enough time not pre-ordering this thing right now! Like I said, I do want it, it looks pretty sweet. I just know I shouldn't be spending that much money. Internal combustion in an RC, damn that's cool.

What those of you who are knocking the price don't seem to understand, is that with the right battery and gearing, this 'toy car' would actually keep up with ken blocks REAL car to 60kph/35mph.

I like the video accompanying the *TOY CAR* (!!) replete with rap music and lots of serious slow motion and camera pans.....Someone somewhere just got a toy car boner over that.....-sigh

Ehhhh...

Dirt 2 was annoying. Dirt 1 was a proper racing game, with loads of tracks and cars and the different racing types were actually different. Dirt 2 had less than 10 bloody tracks and was obnoxiously 'cool'. I guess all the cars felt more fun to drive but that's slightly lessened if there's only a few tracks to drive them on.

Are there any trailers for Dirt 3?

Now, I'd NEVER buy a CE for a racing game this expensive, but I can vouch for the 300 USD price tag. I've seen RCs of that quality in hobby shops and they usually fetch prices pretty close to what is being charged here.

I presume it'd at least be better than that piece of crap that Black Ops' prestige edition came with.

Some people are acting like this is still just the game, and then reacting to the price tag... "$300 for a game? Well that's f'ing stupid."

You buy a CE because you wan't the little extras that it comes with. If you don't wan't an RC car then you don't want the collectors edition, there really is nothing to complain about.

Wait...so its...an RC car....

for $300?
As someone else pointed out, that car is actually a very high end model. I don't get the people that spend that much money on RC whatevers, but, it is a hell of a lot more than a toy.

I suppose someone that races these on a "Professional" scale would be.....

Still...its a toy car...

I'll buy it when NO ONE ELSE buys it at my Gamestop, and it's being sold for dirt cheap.

Even if it were worth it, which it is not, there are things that are more worth it.

Haha, no, I wouldn't buy it either. Imagine getting stuck with some Ken Block memorabilia, for those who don't watch the World Rally Championship he is pretty much forgetable. Now if that RC was an Audi Quattro Sport or some other Group B rallycar...
