Matt Turano doesn't really hate the games you love, he just finds himself awash in sea of "meh" over them.

It seems like you can't be an exclusive PlayStation 3 release unless you've got colon in your title...
And with those words, a great internet love affair was launched. Well played, sir.

So wait, did you not like Gears of War? Or did you just not like the single player campaign? I thought the appeal of that game was the multiplayer. Didn't you say as much in the article? Generally a game having a mode that's an unnecessary afterthought is looked at as gravy if it has any redeeming quality or a nitpick if it doesn't.

Mario's been skating for 23 years? I must've missed that one.

Then you never played the first Mario Bros game. You know, the one with the ice level?

So while ice levels are pretty common in games, ice skating a little different from just slipping around. But yeah, I suppose they've done ice before.

Edit: Right, Mario Bros., minus the super. I always forget about that one.

So this is what bugs me about this article. It doesn't really get down to serious analysis on why any of these games rubs the author the wrong way. Some really superficial thought on the subject suggests to me that the author doesn't dislike the multiplayer part of Gears of War because of the single-player mode he acknowledges he could just ignore but for some other, entirely unexplored reason. Maybe Super Mario Galaxy isn't intended for people who have been playing video games for over 20 years. All we have is a hit list of games that are very popular, but the author dislikes. We all know someone who dislikes the things we love. How does this article make anyone aware of anything that they weren't already?
