Disney Announces Ultimate Band

DS [http://buenavistagames.go.com/]that will let players live the life of an aspiring rock star from the family garage to the world's biggest venues.

The game will combine current hits with all-time classics from some of the biggest names in rock, pop, alternative, emo and the indie scene. The game makes use of the DGamer [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_Remote]support for secure multiplayer action.

"Ultimate Band invites kids, tweens and teens to join in the jam session," said Craig Relyea, Disney Interactive's senior vice president of global marketing. "And whether they choose guitar, drums, bass or front man, members don't need to buy costly, single-function peripherals [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_controller#Others]to play their way through Ultimate Band's deep song list, dynamic venues and customizable characters. The Wii Remote and DS stylus are the only tools they'll need to reach rock stardom in Ultimate Band."

David Hill of music consultants Radial Music [http://www.radial.tv/], which worked with Disney on the project, added, "Radial worked closely with Disney to compile the perfect song list for Ultimate Band. With iconic songs from every decade since the 60s, these games feature music for everyone."

Ultimate Band for the Wii and DS is being developed by Fall Line Studio [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fall_Line_Studios] and is currently set for a Christmas 2008 release.

Nebbish Rock-fantasies without squeeky Fisher Price peripherals?! Heresy! Burn them!
In seriousness this seems like a bit of cheap me-too-ism tagging along as it does after Rock Band.
Also, the fact that it's coming from Disney seems to forbode some questionable music in that list and some cheap Disney trademark property insertion.

I recall a certain Disney skating game being the soundtrack to my youth. Vaguely. Their choices are... alright.

Their claim that the Wiimote will be satisfactory for playing on is rather absurd, however. You tried playing Guitar Hero on that thing? Fucking Hell.

"Ultimate ripoff" aside, I'm not really seeing how playing on a Wiimote is going to compare to wailing on a "costly, single-function peripheral."

They most likely mean Hannah Montana and Drake Bell as the "ultimate band".

Watch out, Hannah Montana is heading to YOUR livingroom. You can also rock out as the ultimate emo 12 year old! Nice! Hair right over that eye!

It's exactly like Kingdom hearts. Take a concept that's already been (or partly done) make it neat and all. Then stab it to death with the disney logo. Honestly, I'm happy just playing stepmania on my keyboard. I don't need to dole out 50 bucks to do it on my Wii.

Frankenstein was the doctor. The monster had no name. GET IT RIGHT.

I mean to say, the monster of doctor Frankenstein, that's why it's called the Frankenstein monster, cause he made it, so I therefore call it the Frankenstein monster.

The difference being that Kindom Hearts was well reviewed and most people loved it. This is just an embarrassing half assed attempt to cash in on Rock Bands popularity, and I can not see this turning over a big profit.
