Nothing good will come of this. There has never been a good "Part 5" film, EVER. And name ONE film series that was still even marginally good in its Sixth sequel.

This will be terrible. There will be thrown up pop-corn/gummi-bears in the aisle in my multiplex. Please do not slip on it.
I haven't seen any of them, but I recall a lot of people saying that SawV or SawVI (I can't remember which) was one of the best in the series, I'd go track down which they were referring to, but both fit that qualification up there.

As for the pirates sequels, I'll wait till I see the 4th before I pass any judgement, or at the very least see a commercial.

Huzzah, another Johnny Depp and Tim Burton movie. Just what we need.
Aside from the quick mention in the article, how does that relate in any way to Pirates?

There's a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film? Did it have any advertising?

Meh, the third Pirates film was inadequate, the second was moderate - if a little confusing, and the first was perfect.
Agreed. All my friends and myself went to see the third at the El Capitan and had a blast. When we learned of On Strangers Tides we were a bit worried but still as fans were gonna see it in its premiere. Knowing about there possibly being a fifth and sixth film wont concern me till we all find out the plot or plots to the films.

Saw XIII, Pirates IX, and Land Before Time XXIII will all see the light of day before Half-Life 2: Episode 3.

I have to admit I'm extremely wary of this. I'm going to have to see 4 before I even think about seeing 5 and 6, and I'm seriously worried that they're just trying to milk the franchise for all it's worth. Hell, I thought that when I was watching 3.

Besides, all the loose ends have been tied up; what is there to do? The only place they could conceivably take movie 4 is Sparrow pursuing the Fountain of Youth, and then what is there to do? What they should be doing is looking at Will Turner shepherding souls: that would be a fantastic movie (as long as it wasn't JUST soul shepherding).

PotC: On Stranger Tides doesn't drop until next year. That's why you haven't seen anything on it.

Disney, ever heard of logging a dead horse?
Logging? No, that's with trees. You know, logs. They make paper and buildings out of 'em.

Anyway, they'll probably suck, but I don't really mind. Someone will enjoy them, and I'll just be glad they're happy and that all the fine folks at Disney get to keep their jobs.

I see, I was surprised since Disney advertise everything they produce into the sun!

The first movie was excellent.
Everything that followed is technically well-done, and well acted, but the story itself is...meeeeeeehhhhhh.

I can't imagine how Depp isn't going to be burnt out on this by the time Yar 5 hits, nevermind the audience.

Ugh the first was good but now they've pretty much run out of good thing to do. Maybe if they hadn't made Davey Jones the captain of the Flying Dutchman, which he wasn't in the original stories of it, they could use Captain Vanderdecken for a villan.

Either way I can see this easily capsizing

Just another piece of evidence supporting my theory that every movie that has Depp in it very quickly becomes all about him, no matter how big or small his character is supposed to be to the story... Alice in Wonderland? Why did they even name it that? 90% of the merchandise has the Hatter (Depp) on it instead of or in addition to Alice. Front of the movie box? Depp. Front of the game boxes? Depp (with Alice a bit behind him). Pirates 1 was about Will and Elizabeth with Jack being an amusing guide to Will and a supporting role and facilitator. He was a lovable rogue that, in the end, had a heart of gold.
Suddenly, movie 2 is all about Jack, with Will and Elizabeth kinda tacked on. And he's a jerkwad willing to sacrifice Will to save his own butt for a week. Even when he's DEAD-ish in the third movie, he's STILL getting a lot of screen time!

It's almost nice, seeing them finally throw up their hands and admit that they're making the series all about Depp, following after adding him to the ride, having him be in most of the advertising and toys and being the ONLY character in the game.

That being said, I think it'll suck. They had nothing to work off of, no plot threads to follow, no minor characters to explore. It's the worst kind of sequel, where they decide to throw a well-established character from the old one into a new, totally unrelated plot (well, to be honest, they MIGHT throw in a few references. Maybe.) to try to get people to remember the first, really good movie and see it again.
