Heres the TI version:
Chipset: GeForce GTX 560 Ti
Core Clock: 822 MHz
Shader Clock: 1644 MHz
Memory Clock: 4000 MHz
Process Technology: 40 nm
Memory Type: GDDR5
No HDMI port

Heres the gtx 580
Chipset: GeForce GTX 580
Core Clock: 772 MHz
Shader Clock: 1544 MHz
Memory Clock: 4008 MHz
Memory Type: GDDR5

the thing is the gtx 560 overclock by gigabyte was released more recently than the 580, so its new technology. so Should I get that instead?

The 580 has much more power than the 560/560Ti. If you can afford it, definitely go for the 580.

You should look at the amounts of cuda cores they got as well, since a card with 500 cuda cores and 700mhz will outperform a gpu with 400 cuda cores and 800mhz.


So the gtx 580 will outperform the 560, if you are building on a budget I would go with the 560 otherwise I would buy a gtx 580

Just because the GPU is newer does not make it better. All Nvidia 5xx series cards (codename FERMI) use the same 40nm architecture. The Ti version is more powerful and is a great card, and GPU companies tend to release their high end cards first, then their lower performance cards later. The 560 Ti is a great card, no doubt about it and is definitely a smart buy.
