Searchbar-approved, as far as I could find.

Just as it sounds . . . I've been having untold problems with unlocking the bonus items for Team Fortress 2 while playing the game, and I was beginning to wonder if any of my fellow Escapists were having similar issues.

EDIT: My apologies; I had meant to include a poll, but my internet connection shat out on me and dropped it.

No, not really. I haven't tried hard yet, but normal gave me no difficulty at all, I've won about 80% of my games outright so far.

depends on your poker skillz, dawg. mine are medicore, so it took me about 11 games to get the three items i wanted. maybe i'll keep playing to try for the rest of the decks and tables.

Nope, I had no idea how to play at all when I started, and learned after a number of hours of playing. It isn't always easy though, its fun :)

I had a lot of trouble playing it at the start before I detected some patterns. There's a fair amount of strategy to it, I believe. For starters Max and Strong Bad are fairly big risk takers whereas Heavy and Tycho are more conservative. You've got to adjust your playstyle depending on who's wagered their item.

For Heavy and Tycho I recommend going all in in your first draw (regardless of what you have). It's rare that they will call your bluff. In most cases Max and SB will call your bluff. If you win, you're at a huge advantage and can play aggressively against heavy and tycho by putting in putting in fairly large bets with a reasonably good hand (they will fold most of the time anyway). If you lose you start the next round quicker.

For Max and SB you probably want to play more conservatively. Don't go all in and see if they are willing to play the round in the first place. Unlike Heavy and Tycho they don't tend to scare away after the flop and if you can get at least a pair it's worth sticking around. In any case you don't have to win the tournament to unlock their items. All you need is to be ahead of whomever bets their item in terms of money and putting in large bets when you have a good flop.

If you're an idiot savant and can count cards or calculate the percentage chance of winning based on your draw then... just ignore the above.
