Do you find yourself a better gamer when tired?

So I was just playing a quick round of TF2, as a Sniper, a class I am above-average in. But right now, it's about 11:00 PM PST, and I did extremely well. I was dominating half their team in about 5 minutes. My friend and I played late into the night another night as well, and we experienced similar results. Personally, I think it's because I was more relaxed than anything.

So, do you guys find yourselves better when tired, or more relaxed? If so, why?

Its because all the hardcore kids have been sent to bed. Usually more adult players on at these times, Its the same during the day when they are all at school.

I just fluctuate randomly all the time. Some games on Killzone2 I will get top of the table then next game against same people I will drop to low middle. Its infuriating.

I dunno, I think Mr Gavo has a point. Me and several friends spent the night together playing videogames almost the whole time, playing Rockband on and off between the fps'. We're doing decently on the early rounds, but by 10 in the morning with no sleep, we're just acing song after song. I'm guessing this is especially true of rhythm games, because when we're tired, we're more relaxed and better at a mindless game like that.

Yeah I play better when tired. Or as soon as I wake up. But yeah I've noticed that I snipe HEAPS better when I'm half asleep. It becomes harder if you consentrate too much. Just relax and pull the trigger. Don't hesitate is what I say.

I am fucking awful when I'm tired. Games aren't like movies for me where if I'm bored I can just pop it in. I have to be somewhat awake.

Nope. I'm a more expressive writer when I'm tired (less inhibition), but my gaming skill tends to tank (slower reflexes).

Yeah, my performance picks up noticeably in FPSs when I am tired, but in everything else it drops dramatically. The same can be said for gaming under the influence of alcohol. I think it just relaxes me, and lets me concentrate less on being a spastic twitch player and more of a "oh, there's someone's head in my sights. Suppose I should pull the trigger now" player.

Nah, usually I just start messing about when I'm tired. I managed to dodge the AI in Brawl for about 6 minutes...
If I try doing actual stuff, I'm bound to head towards the nearest cliff.

I suck, and get angry when tired, sometimes I think I've done something wrong and made it impossible for myself... When I wake up in the morning I will often get it done first time, this has happened a lot!

I'm at my best playing games at 4am to 7 am or later in the day.
basicly when I'm tired I have a twitchy trigger finger.

When I'm fully awake, logic and thought processes usually keep me from being fully focused on games. However, in the dark at 2 AM, it's much easier to sleepily focus on the screen and go 45-2 in CS:S (which I somehow managed to do).

The perception that you do better when tired is similar to doing anything better when you're not at your tip-top best. You do things you wouldn't expect you'd be able to do when tired and get really excited and think you are performing better when you're really not.

However, if you notice these things when you're tired and playing at night, there is probably a reason for that. A large group of people perform tasks better at night. I'm one of those people. I do everything better when the sun is down.
