Todays fandom is broken into 3 parts:

1)Veterins. Prefur stuff from the 80s & earlier. Most likely to complain about clicheness & moe overkill of newer titles.

2)Elitists: If you can't watch it fansubbed online, it's not worth it.

3)Noobs: Making bad TV dubs into occult religions.

Sometimes you can find someone willing to watch anything, but they usualy end up in or between one or two of these.

I maybe a mere European but curios non the less, subbed or dubbed anime?? You say ' latest titles to hit North American shores' but that doesn't specify which format.

I would assume dubbed, but you could probably contrast the two for acting, content, etc.

I believe Funk specified that it would be both versions.

Yes, it will include both.

Anyway, again, keep the discussion to other threads please :)

Damn you for ignoring us Europeans (again).

You will rue this day. You will! (You will! You will. You... will. you ... will.)

Just wondering how strictly the word limit is going to be held up? I've got the long review finished, but it's about a hundred words over the designated number, so would I need to slice out some fifty to a hundred words or was that more like the lower-bound (naturally not to go way too far over)?

The word count is an exact upper limit.

Even though i'm not valid how about those released with official subs but no dub, like Media Blasters who dubbed the first few GaoGaiGar episodes then subbed the rest so they could milk GoLion/Voltron again. Or SRW OG Divine Wars which has no english dub and is subbed by Bandai?

Would the reviewer be expected to comment on laziness/ lack of option?
Most of the stuff that we get - if not all of it - is dubbed. In the event that it's not, you'll be expected to comment on that.

This one's right up my alley. I've already sent in the two reviews I've done. I just hope they're good enough.

If you're doing the latest titles, try not picking ones that have been available in English for 10 or more years.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - Sucked hard. First anime I've ever hated with a passion. I wanted everyone to die horribly. The only good character died the episode he was introduced in.

Cowboy Bebop - Too short. After Cartoon Network played the 13 episodes repeatedly for 3 years, it got old. Good voices & very funny. Best watched back to back with that pussy Vash from Trigun.

Spirited Away - You've seen one Studeo Ghibli film, you've seen em all (except Castle of Cagliosto). They have a pattern they follow that I like to call "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome", or would if it didn't refur to a motion disorder. They're all great though.

Fullmetal Alchemist - Bad character designs, everyone is fat, bad choice for voice actors, angst-angst, everyone dies, the end. This title is on my "noob magnet" list, because only noobs seem to find "Hagaren" interesting. It's like when I was in hightschool & yaoi girls clung to the ambuguity of Gundam Wing because it was all they had.
I hope you're not basing the anime off of the English translations, because English Evangelion is probably regarded as the worst bit of dubbing in history. However, the show itself works off of so many deep levels that it is difficult to enjoy without understanding. The same goes with Full Metal Alchemist.
