I'm thankful for this oppurtunity to let our knowledge of Anime and our writing skills to combine to create some really great reviews.

Just a few questions though,

I'm a student in a film and television program, and as such have access to industry standard sound and video equipment to produce video reviews. If we are selected to write for The Escapist on Anime, will there be any oppurtunity to produce video reviews in the future?

As I love anime and have been totally let down by not being eligable for the position:

Can I be the Escapist's official pirate. I'm totally from Bristol and had to wear and eye-patch when I was little.

I have to ask, do child labor law apply here? I'm an avid anime fan and I would honestly like to give this a try, my skill in writing isn't the best but I'll be dammed if I couldn't at least give it a try. However I'm not sure if I could even try due to age. I'm not sure if this counts as a job or not, would anyone be willing to look into whether or not you could hire 15 year olds?
Technically since they aren't actually paying you, just sending you anime and you're writing for them, it's not child labor, as far as I'm aware. Seeing as how nothing's being paid for, just someone mailing you DVDs, child labor laws don't apply. But I'm not sure about that, so don't take my word on it.

I'm hoping your correct but when I have to apply to get the position, I'm not 100% sure your right, I'm just hoping someone can clarify that.

Well you aren't really "applying" for it, there's no real paperwork being shuffled around as far as I'm aware. By which I mean, you aren't submitting a resume or work permit or anything like that, just sending in a sample review and competing against other people.

I guess Ill give it a shot, Ill have to go back and watch a few of them, as its been a while.
The only draw back is that if I get the position (thats a big IF) I really wont have time to watch what I want to.

Like I said I really hope your right, but I'm not 100% sure so I'd like to wait for conformation of someone who works for Themis.

]Time to start my Fullmetal Alchemist review...
Thought you would, your Avatar sort of gave it away.

I would love to do this but i have a pile of assignments and i need to write a review for the school newspaper. Even if i didn't have all that on however i still would be unable to participate. Stupid region coding and posting costs.

America gets anime and manga before the UK..so this doesn't surprise me that this is ''once again'' only for them =/

Couple of questions.

1: When it comes to a series, are we reviewing the ENTIRE series, or just the particular box we receive?

2: Is there an exact criteria when it comes to the review or are we on our own?

3: Will all five reviewers share the same deadline or is it going to be spaced out relatively even?

The Guest Reviews happen rarely for the following reasons.

One: not many things submitted are up to our standards for publication. I generally work with those authors to give them some pointers on how to tune up their work.

Two: Someone asks to review a retro game. We don't cover retro games, unless they're being re-released, as with the X-Com bundle on Steam. We even stretched it to include Jade Empire, as it's an Xbox Original.

Three: Someone asks to review a game we're reviewing in-house, such as Killzone 2. While we're not necessarily opposed to having more than one review up for a game, with so many games out there to cover, it seems kind of silly to double up.

Four: Someone asks to review a game, gets the go-ahead, and never delivers. This happens far more often than you might think. People have lives, responsibilities, and obligations, and coming through with a review ends up getting pushed down their priority list.

Oh god damn, I don't watch any of those shows >_< (I watched like two eps of FMA and bits of Bebop, the other ones I really couldn't care less about)
