*shrugs* I watch all my anime for free anyway. I would've like to try my hand at applying for it, if only just to try my reviewer expertise, but meh, too lazy.

It took 6 months to read my title.

Oh, the irony of it all. I'm American, of legal age so I don't have to think about that, love anime, and can't write. I suck at writing, and I'm eligible. That's not to say I won't try.

I might give it a shot though I suck at writing anything long (I'm 18 so don't worry)

I have the entire FMA series (+movie) on my computer, but I only have two eps of NGE but I remember some of the episodes.

Can we use wordpad?

I swear you're actually moonlighting as a stock-room for a local anime-goods store.
I've probably got more stock than any of the stores around here. I vaguely considered renting some of my stuff out until I realized that I have that freaky collector everything-must-remain-pristine mentality.

If you're doing the latest titles, try not picking ones that have been available in English for 10 or more years.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - Sucked hard. First anime I've ever hated with a passion. I wanted everyone to die horribly. The only good character died the episode he was introduced in.

Cowboy Bebop - Too short. After Cartoon Network played the 13 episodes repeatedly for 3 years, it got old. Good voices & very funny. Best watched back to back with that pussy Vash from Trigun.

Spirited Away - You've seen one Studeo Ghibli film, you've seen em all (except Castle of Cagliosto). They have a pattern they follow that I like to call "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome", or would if it didn't refur to a motion disorder. They're all great though.

Fullmetal Alchemist - Bad character designs, everyone is fat, bad choice for voice actors, angst-angst, everyone dies, the end. This title is on my "noob magnet" list, because only noobs seem to find "Hagaren" interesting. It's like when I was in hightschool & yaoi girls clung to the ambuguity of Gundam Wing because it was all they had.

2 if we have volumes of manga and anime dvds is that relevant to our chances and should be mentioned?
2.) Couldn't hurt.
In that case...

The only DVDs I haven't watched yet are the handful on the coffee table that arrived today.

Looks like my manga collection, only yours has lots of free space & your figurines aren't dangling from strings to prevent them from toppling over.

Goddanar ;)

Anyway, I'd apply, being fully capable of playing US region DVDs despite being in the UK, but I'd be stumped if there were ever a Blu-Ray release of any anime in the west ever...

the main downside is that so many Anime's that reach the West are so butchered in content, and narrow in range to what is actually being produced, in the context they are being produced in...granted this is just how media works when exporting anything foreign, but there is a much broader scope that sometimes gets over looked, or sometimes completely altered.

I'm a Western Mangaka, and do try to keep to writing to a level more appealing in a western culture, while retaining the eastern themes, look, and structure, and it's no easy feat, no shock that I have more US/UK/AUS readers than I do in Japan, so one gives vast amount of credit to those who have to deal with importing/exporting media of any nature.

I would love to write and go over anime, as it is a big part of my life on a professional, and entertainment level..though I should add that I pay more attention to Japan directly to gauge where trends are leading in the industry, rather than where they are in the states " which can often be a few months, to several years behind)

I find that's improved vastly from early years, yes you still have 4Kids the butcher running around sinking scissors into anything that looks at them funny, But you also have FUNimation and Bandai Visual who work hard to bring the original content.

I firmly believe some stuff has to be changed, look Japan is a 'Punny' nation, half the jokes in any work is a pun on something (As an example Masaru in Digimon Savers would call Tohma a variation of the word, which meant idiot, the joke won't make any sense in english)

There are also examples of a Show working better in English, Bebop and Big O were expected to work much better in english.

Then there is the backlog held back by asshole companies, I rarely expect to ever Enjoy Macross Seven in English due to all the song licensing. As I never expect to enjoy Gundam ZZ or Gundam X in English.

In the same vein as your a Mangaka, I'm writing a Novel about Mecha in the vein of Super Robots over the traditional western variety. This is a difficult task because I'm trying to write something that doesn't PRETEND to be realistic, and specifically one that is like a Japanese Robot show over a Western version such as Mech Commander.

Having 3 of the Elemental machines combine their powers to heat up the atmosphere, create clouds with water, charge them with electricity to rain the battlefield with a lightning storm is a pretty cool thing to me, your never likely to see it in most Western Mecha work.

yup, I think you covered that pretty well off... there is alot of improvement lately, and there are several groups and companies looking to broaden and strengthen that trend, such as Anime Innovation Tokyo, and their drive to expand the field on a more worldly level...
