Do you play games while it is storming?

As someone living in Florida in the summertime heavy storms are quite frequent. Too many times I've been playing a game only for the power to flicker off and make me lose all my progress. I'm reluctant to play because of that reason, also even worse is if the power went out right while I'm saving which results in losing the file completely.

Do you brave the storm and continue gaming or give it a rest when it is storming?

Of course, it's the only entertaining thing to do while the storm is going on I mean TV goes out, Internet goes out and the radio goes out so I might as well play some of my old games!
I do not understand fear of storms, hurricanes, earthquakes and any other natural disaster and everyone gets mad at me because I do not react when it happens (and yes I have been in those situations), I'm not saying I'm brave it's more of an stupidity thing since I do not feel like something dangerous is going on and I could easily be killed because I just ignore it and keep doing what I'm doing.

In my spot in Canada, heat is often more of a stress on power than storms.
Occasional brown-outs do happen because when it gets hot, people turn the AC all the way up.
I still play during heat waves and such, if I play a game like Fallout: NV; it conveniently autosaves frequently.

I brave the storm. It's only ever caused an issue once, and I ended up having to replay about a half hour worth of the game.

UPS ftw. I usually estimate the distance and turn stuff off if its right on top of me. My house has been hit a couple times so I unplug everything if the storm gets real close. Otherwise I keep playing and if power goes out, my UPS will give me enough time to save. I have one for my PC and peripherals and one for my PS3/Wii/TV.

Um... I'm in Britain... so, if there's a power cut, it's because the service provider's being a dick. We get gales every so often, but they're usually rather tepid affairs compared to what the Gulf of Mexico gets.

I'm living in the UK, its a lovely place that has two seasons throughout the year, Winter and August

Winter is grey and humid with light breaks of rain, and August is hot and humid with light breaks of rain, but its more likely to Thunder during August, therefore I find it too hot to play computer games.

Computer games during a hot storm is kinda like chocolate when its hot, Chocolate is nice, but I don't want to eat it when I'm hot and sweaty, I'd much rather fruit.

I play during storms on the off-chance lightning will strike my computer and give it sentience.

I live in Kansas. My favourite time to game IS when it's rain and lightning outside. Makes gaming feel cozy

Yessuh.

Games feel more badass, more cinematic when it's storming outside.

Sometimes we lose power, but since many of the games I play have autosave, it's awwwwriiightt. 8)

Its called handheld gaming. And I only take such drastic measures when the power is out.

It's easier with modern gaming, considering all of the checkpointing and auto-saving systems. If you're playing an older game (say, Final Fantasy VII, VIII, or IX) then that's where the true challenge comes.

You do not know life until you've played the final boss fight from Ocarina of Time in the middle of a massive storm at night.

I've never had lightning storms turn anything off in my house, maybe because I live in London *shrug*.

I love thunderstorms, so no. I go sit in my sunroom, shut off all the lights, open the glass door (leaving the screen door closed) and just and take in the sights, smells, and sounds.

Nah, I'm paranoid about my hardware. Every electrical appliance that plugs in to the wall gets disconnected.
Mind you, lightning storms are pretty rare around here.

Here in Britain, we never get any extreme weather. You will never see winds sweep someone off their feet, or lightning snap the electricity from an area like the quickest of thieves. If you're baking in Summer, it's cause 27 degrees Celcius is a massive shock to the system after the normal temperature of slightly less than 20.

So powercuts during storms is just an abstract concept to me. The only time mine goes down is when people are doing road maintenance or some shit like that.

I live in California, we have a real storm once, maybe twice a year, and even during those the power doesn't cut out, so yeah, I game during them.

By the way, gaming on a laptop FTW for that reason. Even if the power goes out I still have the battery and can finish saving and keep gaming no problem.

Yes, in the hope that lightning will strike the house and every sci fi movie ever will be proven as I am sucked into the game.
