Do you prefer light or darkness?

Like the title says, do you prefer to be fully illuminated or in the dark? Why?

I somehow find darkness relaxing. I'm not a very social person and I'd honestly rather choose a dim, quiet room with nobody in it than a room filled with lights and noise.

Darkness of course, who can stand to be illuminated to the point one's eyes burn. The darkness is calming and freeing, allowing one to be lost without moving to a location hitherto unexplored.
I hate the light because it limits all the other ways you can experience something and doesn't help you see anything but colors better (in the opinion of someone who doesn't see the difference between HD and standard television who wears glasses and is blinded by the sun when several layers of clouds are in the way).

Overall, darkness is just more amiable from my perspective.

Darkness. I hate being in the light, the brighter it is the worse it is. I can feel all the muscles in my face relaxing when I enter a dark room from the light and all the tension seems to flow out of my body. Leads to arguments with my housemate as he hates being in the dark and likes the house to be lit up as brightly as possible. When I'm home alone, the entire house is pitch black, the only light in the whole place is from my monitor and the LEDs on my computers.

I find solace in both.

The darkness is what most people tend to fear, yet I find comfort in silence brought upon by the dark. The calm stillness of everything is relaxing and allows me to focus inward.
My room is dimly lit in dark colours because of this. I find it difficult to concentrate on a single thing in the light as it makes me distracted.

The light however gives me a sense of warmth. Comfort in a different way than darkness. It makes me feel... I don't know. Welcome is a word to describe it. An influx of thoughts and emotions as a result of an over-stimulus to the senses. With this stimulus, I find it easier to think on multiple issues and thoughts. Enlightened, one could say.

.... and that was a little more introspective and philosophical than I intended. >.<

Gonna meet ya in the middle. I don't like intense light, but total darkness makes me uncomfortable. I usually have my windows shades blocking half the light in the day and have a soft lamp on at night. I do, however, love dawn and dusk. My favorite times of day since it has the best of both.

The darkness is where I shine.

I love being near invisible when I'm only a few feet away, but if a situation arises I can either immediately step out and be known or safely wait for the right time to act.

If the wife would let me get away with it, my windows would be covered in foil and trash bags. I'm maybe one step away from reflexively hissing/bursting into flames in daylight.

I prefer the darkness. It hurts my eyes when it is bright. The light of a computer monitor is all I need!!

Also, it is typically cooler at night.

I prefer dusk/dawn light levels.
Basically, what you get if in a dark medium-small room by turning on an old-style 40W lightbulb.
I would have said "twilight" but somebody would have confused that with "Twilight" and...

Darkness.

Im photosensitive from diabetes

Plus I have scotch/irish atypical ginger blood.

One of my favorite sunny day activities is going outside and letting the reflection off of me screw with the tracking on the international space station.

Darkness is my element.

Of course, my inner thoughts come out at night time so if you want to see me preachy, get me when the sun goes down.

You just asked a forum for a hobby that involves sitting in front of a screen indoors for hours if they prefer the light or darkness.

I think the question answers itself in this case.

Light. Dark is cool, but I much prefer the light.

It makes taking photographs much easier. All the different kinds of it.

I like light because I am not a cat.

I like the darkness because fuck the Sun is bright.
