Does anyone else game with their girlfriends?

My ex girlfriend quit her job over Parasite Eve. She wanted to beat the game, and didn't like her job at the time so she called and said she wasn't coming in again. She wanted to beat the game.

The best part though: They offered her time off to beat it if that was what she wanted, and she could just come back when it was done.

Me and my Fiancee do not have a lot of crossover in our Multiplayer Gaming Taste, she likes Mario Party, I loathe it with an undying passion (I know it's basically all random chance, but why does the "randomness" pretty much always work against me?) I like Action Games/Fighting Games, she won't touch them.

However we do share tastes in Single Player Games, though she admits she's bad at them but loves to watch me play. We pretty much played through the entirety of Dragon Age and Assassins Creed 2 together. She especially enjoys games where she can help me "make decisions" on things and we're both really looking forward to Mass Effect 2.

In a sense. My last serious girlfriend really liked to watch people play along with actually playing, so there was a lot of me playing single-player games and her watching me and adding in MST3K-esque commentary into the mix.

My girlfriend and I are playing Tales of Vesperia and Little Big Planet together. We've tried FPS coop games, but she just doesn't have the skills at present to not get slaughtered on any difficulty above a cakewalk. Maybe with practice.

So, I started going out with my girlfriend Allie a few months ago and I've pretty much moved in with her now. Around about the time when I started staying here a lot she bought a Wii and I brought over my PS3. Since then we've been playing a lot of games together (examples being Smash Bros, Wii Kart, Little Big Planet). Unfortunately she's not really into FPSs or RPGs, so that kills most of the games, but we still have enough shared interest that we're still playing together.

That's my story; I was just wondering if anyone else plays video games with their wife, significant other, partner, girlfriend or friend with benefits?

I'm a girl (yeah that was kinda obvious, sorry haha) and I got my guy into gaming on a more regular level - it's hilarious because he gets so annoyed when he dies whereas I find it hilarious to purposely jump off a ledge into a sea of bullets just to see what happens. It's great fun, gaming with your other half

We're playing alot of L4D2 and I'm probably getting MW2 when I get paid as well, so I can force him to have fun with me on that hehe.

If he's a PC gamer then maybe it'd be worth trying to get him to play Dragon Age, or something if he likes Fantasy? I guess it depends on what you yourself are into

My current GF doesn't play as many games with me (as I would like... LOL!) But she does like to either watch with commentary, or allow me to game while she does other things (FB, chatting online, etc.) without making me feel bad about it.

Sometimes she'll even tell me to get the hell out of "her" kitchen and go game cause I'm getting in her way. (Love her so much for that! LOL!)

Yeah, I've been trying to nudge him towards DA. He's played KOTOR and NWN and loved them. No reason why he shouldn't love that too, right?

He reckons games aren't fun any more unless they're online. I'm really hoping DA will be enough to give us some more common gaming ground again.

Ouch, he really thinks that? While I'll fully agree that AI can't compare to a living, breathing human controlling your teammates, you'd be hard stretched to find consistently decent players unless you possess five friends that own the same game and are on at the same time (in my experience anyway, may be I'm wrong). Plus, offline CO-OP games are brilliant; at least the person is there in the room with you!

Keep pushing with DA, the PC version I've heard is brilliant to play (I've got the 360 version) good luck! Hehe

Yeah, we both love RTSes, but were also both really bad at them. I complete most of the games I buy that aren't RTS. I complete... well, I've completed one or two in my whole gaming career. Which started with the original C&C.

My wife is a D&D nut like me but isn't much of a video game player, she loves Okami though. Luckily she likes to watch games so she doesn't get pissed when I do long gaming stints like Dragon Age.

My husband and I game together a fair bit. I don't do FPS games, on account of not being able to walk in one direction and shoot in another (yes, I know, I'm incompetent), but we play a lot of hack'n'slash together like Dynasty/Samurai Warriors and also a fair bit of Rock Band/GH. I also do a lot of "backseat gaming" and watch him play through games that I ordinarily wouldn't play by myself, and spend my time looking for hidden items he can grab.

We've tried a few MMO's, but they don't really work for us because he's too competitive. The instant I outlevel him, he's no longer interested in the game - and I inevitably outlevel him, because I *like* grinding.

I think it's good to game together - it gives us something to do, and also keeps us informed about each other's interests. Plus, it gives us food for conversation, so that's cool too.
