Does anyone else have any issues with the driving in borderlands?

Just wanted to see if anyone else can?t stand the way you drive the car in BL(on the consoles).
You know how you push the left stick forward to accelerate and back to reverse, while moving the right stick to turn.

Just seems like it would be simpler to map the accelerate to X or something and simply turn with the left stick.

Yeah, it's very annoying. I would have preferred the GTA style controls.

It was also infuriating to get stuck on invisible geometry and tiny bits of scenery, especially given that any tiny collision with a raider vehicle sent you flying into the stratosphere.

I find the vehicle controls fine.

The physics are also rather amusing, crashing on invisible walls and being sent flying by a nudge.

I did not like it at first but I got used to it very quickly and I do not mind it at all.

I don't have any problems with them. I'm playing on PC, could that have something to do with it?

It's basically Halo driving with funnier physics, and a boost button. It's okay.

It does it's job. It's far from good, but it's not horrible. If they emphasized the vehicle sections more and made you have to fight in them more, then I'd have a problem with them. But hey, it's a way to get from point to point.

I believe those controls are actually the ones used for Gran Turismo (I only played 3 and 4)
They are a little hard to get used to but once you do it really offers better control over your vehicle than you'd expect.

And i found them to be intuitive and easy. (Gran Turismo rocks too)

Cheers.

Yes. It handles completely the opposite way to every other vehicle I've driven on the Xbox 360. I'll go off and play a different game from Borderlands, get accustomed to that driving system, and then, suddenly, every time I think I'm turning I go straight ahead and plow into a wall. Then, when I try to rotate the camera, I suddenly steer off a cliff.

I'd gotten used to it the last time I was playing Borderlands, but, put it this way, when my internet goes up, I'm sticking to the gunner's seat. oO

I got borrowed the game from a friend and I didn't have problems with the way the car was controlled(like Halo) but the sense of control I had over it. Well, I had this problem with all character movement in the game. It felt like I was controlling Luigi in a game designed for Mario.

It was pretty annoying at first and i still wish they allowed you to turn with the A and D keys but once you get used to it its all right. Not the best but certainly not the worst either.

So it takes the Halo approach to driving, is it really that hard to drive for you though? Its just like walking your avatar as The_Deleted said.

I find the controls fine, I just hate how sometimes you're driving along only to realise, Oh Shi--- That's a cliff I've just driven off!

It's not that great. I've gotten better at it then when I started but the whole thing with getting stuck on invisible scenery isn't fun.

It's not that important part of the gameplay though so it's not a huge con for me.

I thought it just was a little wonky physics-wise. Apart from getting stuck every so often it wasn't so bad.

Not as bad as the Mako-driving in Mass Effect . That was much worse.
