NOTE: THIS IS NOT A JIM STERLING HATE LETTER

I like Jim Sterling. We don't always agree but he manages to be extremely insightful about the games industry a WHOLE BUNCH and generally has a really good head on his shoulders.

But does Movie Defense Force have lasting appeal? We'll never be surprised by what he thinks of a movie (it will always be at least generally positive) and unlike reviews or preview shows, it is absolutely possible to run out of movies to defend. There are only so many movies that everyone hates that have redeemable qualities.

What are your thoughts?

I hope the series improves, so far besides the alien one, most have either been "it's not THAT bad" to "take out all the parts you hate and the rest is pretty good".

Yeah, I've gotten pretty bored of them already, since he just repeats the same few arguments over and over again in each video.

1. People hate this movie because it is part of a franchise that they like, if it wasn't part of that franchise people wouldn't hate it.

2. It's not THAT bad.

3. The special effects are good.

4. It's fun to watch despite being bad so long as you don't take it seriously.

Hell, this pretty much came to a head this week when he was talking about Godzilla and admitted that the only reason he's defending the movie is because he remembers liking it when it came out. He doesn't even try to say that it isn't long and boring, and he doesn't try to find any redeeming features in it. The entire video just sounds like "well I liked it so shut up."

So yeah, I don't think he has a lot of these left in him considering each one seems to follow the exact same template. People are going to get bored of this series fairly soon I think.

I think it would be better if it wasn't Jim Sterling doing it. I like Jim (and really like The Jimquisution), but his specialty is definitely video games, not movies. There have also been a lot (like, half?) of horror movies, which gets a little dull after a while.

It could be a series with lasting appeal, but greater variety and (perhaps) a different host would improve it.

No and they why is not even in that it already feels tired it though that is a factor it is more like "Most say this is a 2/10 but it is more of a 4/10!" Okay so that in mind the over all value of the movie I would want to pay is what about $2? I is not really defended if you are just saying that is is just bad as opposed to horrible, there is a reason you do not ask you teacher for a 50 instead of a 25 on you exam because a 50 is still a failure and in the end not only does Movie Defense Force not convince me this movie is not a failure it appears to have no interest in doing such.

I like Jim to the point Jimquisition is the video I look forward to the most, I even like it when it strays like it did in "go fish" but this is simply not his forte.

I personally like MDF, but I can see that it might have a bit of a short shelf-life. He's gonna run out of movies to defend, sooner or later.

Personally, I'm hoping that he'll get around to putting Little Nicky on there. Love that flick, and I'd like to see someone actually point out it's good aspects for a change, instead of just dumping on it because "Adam Sandler movie".

The show is running out of steam fast unfortunately. It had a neat concept and I watched the first few but the overall theme seems to be "Remember this movie? It's not God-awful, it's only slightly awful to maybe good if you've been drinking since 9am!".

Granted, I haven't watched since video 4 (Freddy Versus Jason) and I know it took time for Jimquisition to get it's sea legs so maybe I should give it another chance...

It probably would be better suited for a movie person as well. Someone who can say more than "well it's not that bad because it's fun!".

I know a Mod who has a little movie review series; I bet they'd be perfect!
