I played through this game and did not find anything racist about it it's perfectly legitimate to have African zombies in Africa
Yet again, the problem was not that the zombies were black, it was how those black zombies were portrayed.electrodeth said:I played through this game and did not find anything racist about it it's perfectly legitimate to have African zombies in Africa
Now we're getting offended by the way zombies are portrayed? They're zombies. If they weren't savage didn't attack you on sight something would be horribly horribly wrong here. Zombies are not people, racism is not possible here.nilcypher said:Yet again, the problem was not that the zombies were black, it was how those black zombies were portrayed.
It might make sense from a narrative point of view to have all the infected villagers be savage and attack on sight, but when you step back from the game, it stirs up old colonial ideas of 'The Dark Continent'.
The native villages really don't help either.

Yep, when I heard Sheva speak in that horrendous 'African' accent I was won over. Have you never heard the phrase 'token black character'?Ganado_Headshot said:Not at all, if you notice. Your partner is African also. Any controversy that was aforementioned flew out the window as soon as you heard "My name is Sheva Alomar...."
