And so it happened. Dominion Voting Systems has sued the former President's lawyer Rudy Giuliani for defamation and seeks more than $1.3 billion in damages, and it seems he may not be the only one they'll sue.

So, will this be a blessing in disguise for Rudy and will have the chance to finally show in court all the damning evidence from the fraud? Or, when Rudy shows all his cards, will we see it was just a bluff? The only certain thing is that most lawsuits end in settlements before even reaching the courtroom, so, we may never know...

If it gets thrown out before settling, would that mean they weren't defamed, and everything Rudy said was true?
Kind of like how when Trump's lawsuits were thrown out, people took that to mean that Trump was wrong?

Maybe if Dominion gets 50 consecutive defamation lawsuits against Rudy dismissed first...
Keep it consistent, houseman!
People were making those claims long before the number had risen to 50. Some people here were only referring to one redlined lawsuit, and assumed it was indicative of them "walking back claims", and therefore, that they had no evidence.

And people knew that Trump's claims of voter fraud were bullshit even before the actual election took place.
Thanks, that proves my point. People had their minds made up and trenches dug before seeing any evidence.

Rudy sez:

“Dominion’s defamation lawsuit for $1.3B will allow me to investigate their history, finances, and practices fully and completely. The amount being asked for is, quite obviously, intended to frighten people of faint heart. It is another act of intimidation by the hate-filled left-wing to wipe out and censor the exercise of free speech, as well as the ability of lawyers to defend their clients vigorously. As such, we will investigate a countersuit against them for violating these Constitutional rights.”

It's hair dye. Or the black oil from The X-files. Could be either.
I always thought it was his soul leaking out.

Or the black ooze that passes for his soul.

Turns out the chamber of guf was empty the day he was born, so somebody just stuck some sludge in there and called it good.

Rudy sez:

"This is something that Dominion, a multinational corporation with hundreds of millions of dollars and a fleet of lawyers, definitely didn't expect"

At some point I just stop feeling sorry for people who fall for this grift.

No, not like that at all.

Defamation is not the same as lying. Failing to prove defamation does not per se indicate that the truth was told, either. See for instance Hustler Magazine, Inc. v. Falwell.

This is very different from failing to provide any meaningful evidence that a claim is true: a similar concept to Russell's teapot, or even more basically Occam's Razor.

Including Trump, of course: he decided there was going to be rampant fraud before any votes were cast. Mind made up, trenches dug.
Oh, I think it's probably worse than that.

Trump cynically made up and pushed a whole story about fraud that he knew was a lie as a deliberate strategy months in advance. The statement...

People had their minds made up and trenches dug before seeing any evidence.
...more applies to those people who believed a man with a decades-long career of dishonesty, deceit, fraud and myopic self-aggrandisement, despite no evidence of significant electoral fraud historically, and then continued to do so despite no meaningful evidence in the current election either. They dug their trench so deep they couldn't climb out of it if they wanted to.
