As a child i was always a fan of Donald Duck/Disney. I recently looked through videos that i had and found a very scary scene of Donald in the army.

video here [http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Ko-JElGEvls]

this frightened me today let alone back in the 40's when it was made. Do you think that it's a bit to offensive for a kids audience?

give your opinions/views or other videos of this nature below.

Disney did make some very strange cartoons like the anti-Nazi cartoon. I didn't find them offensive though they have very strong morals.

Just search YouTube and you can find many WW2 and racist cartoons by different companies:
(Warning! These contain multiple images that could be offensive to you. View at your own consent.)

The second one is by Walt Disney and very strong in its message and shows multiple images that could be offensive. They were both banned due to the strong statements in them. It is obvious what the message is that the cartoon creators are trying to get across. Strange things went down in the 40's.

Propaganda, why bother trying to influence the old who have their opinions when you can target a demographic who has none?

A lot of the cartoons (and everything war related in the early 1900's) are strange propaganda. Some of the propaganda I have seen are just insane. It inspired me to make a art work on propaganda, which I got criticized for but went through with it. I know I am going off the track here but there is also some games that include more odd images as of late. Call of Duty: World at War featured constant flags and pictures featuring swastikas instead of the cross, which I found to be strange but it is somewhat good that it shows how Germany truly was.

then again COD: WAW is meant for a older audience who will understand this.

placing this kind of imagery in a kids' TV show isn't exactly right...

True though earlier when the war in Iraq started the Australian government displayed updates about it during child television shows. Like you said, this is not right at all. The updates were quite graphic and contained information that could upset children. Propaganda is always nearby, whatever the age. Sorry if I am going a bit overboard with this topic.

I thought it was pretty funny to be honest.

This is the old Disney I used to like, now all they make is crappy high school musical films.

Also keep in mind people where a whole lot less concerned about racism in those days.
This is true, there was a lot more racism back them, thus it wasn't televised as a particularly bad thing, therefore it wouldn't be uncommon to see racism in old cartoons.

Indeed, back in the day nobody batted an eyelid when a duck was severed in two, skunks smoked cigars and rabbits dressed in womans clothing. Ah the glory days of childrens entertainment.

While I can't see children be very interested in the Iraq war I can't see why informing them about it is a problem. Why are people so afraid of upsetting kids? Why are some things deemed unsuitable for kids? I believe that kids should be kids, but should not be sheltered from the facts and truth. We can't raise them in a vault. At some point the have to know about the wasteland that awaits them.

Yes of course we shouldn't shelter children from the facts, but interrupting the Telly Tubbies to brief on some soldiers being killed is quite bad. What if a child of the soldier killed was watching? Maybe that did happen though, I am not entirely sure on it but I still stand by that the government interrupting TV with news is not the way the world should go. I want to watch TV is peace, dang it.

True. I'll agree on that. No need to abruptly change to "breaking murder news" in the middle of Tele Tubbies. (Though it is a weird, weird show in it self)
There is of course a time and place for everything. I'm not even sure it's the tv job to educate kids about this stuf. As always I'll say it's the parents jobs.

I loved that episode when I was a kid.. Dont rob me of my childhood memories and make me analyze how brainwashing and propagandist it was.

Keep in mind, cartoons weren't meant for children, per se. They were one of many short features shown before the movie, along with news reels and the like.
