And holy shit-tits it looks awesome.
http://dragonage.bioware.com/da2/gallery/ I think you'll be able to find it yourself there.
So anyway, how does everyone think about this? Looks rather good to me, and it'll be nice to know I have the choice to slice and dice or think things through. Naturally, it doesn't look too polished right now, but hey, it's not a finished product.

Looks fun. Those environments were butt ugly though.
Yeah, I'm guessing that they're just spicing up the textures now, or that was recorded a while back.
And by guessing I mean hoping.

Please don't have the game look like vomit, Bioware.

Looks improved over the original's combat system, and I didn't think it could get much better. I'm impressed.

Hopefully archers won't be ridiculously underpowered in DA2 like they were in the first.
You weren't using your archers properly then. I know, opinions right?

Anyways, I found that the Archer was one of the most broken classes in the first game. A fully decked out Leliana managed to take down ogres in a matter of hits by herself. A well built archer is unstoppable.

The first game looked great. On PC, anyway. I feel sorry for anyone forced to play it on consoles, though.
So much ugly reddish brown everywhere. PC didn't have that?

Looks like they made the combat a hell of a lot better than DAO, I've never been a fan of pausing midfight though, it breaks the immersion and i can always manage to get through without it anyway. Did the console version even have a pause command? I can't remember

Well, that's encouraging about the combat. I'm going to assume they're going to make things look prettier (the HUD, environment, and characters were all pretty dull looking). It's probably just a demo environment.

I guess it's too late for them to consider the main character not being named Hawke.

It doesn't look all that different from the first game to me. But I was satisfied with the combat in the first game so I don't mind.

The only thing I hope is that we get less obvious corridors.

Another thing though. I am glad that the tactical combat is still there. I just wish the isometric camera wasn't gone.

They go rid of it?
I didn't hear anything about it being gotten rid of. Well, that kinda sucks. I never really used it, but it was nice to have after a session of Baldur's Gate or Arcanum.

It is looking good so far. This has put most of my fears about the gameplay to rest, now that I have actually seen what it plays like.

I'm pleased,

I particularly like how the melee rogue was jumping around looking like an acrobat with daggers more than a cut and grab sneak. I know thats what they traditionally are, but hey, pretty jump = awesome.

Yes and no. On PC, you could actually make out some of those reds and browns to be symbols or textures on the walls/shields/what have you, instead of just being blobs.

I actually played the game through on the 360 before getting my new PC, so I didn't know what I was missing out on.
Well I'm not too bothered by a few low rez textures to be honest. It was the eye rapingly ugly colour palette in the game that made me want to vomit out my sockets

Ew!

I second that!

The one thing I'm not entirely sold on yet is the conversation wheel. It worked great in Mass Effect, however I really liked Dragon Age's take on the whole branching dialogue thing. Still, it's not something I will pan the game for, and to me it is like choosing between the greater of two goods. Also, this is Bioware we are talking about and if there is any developer I would trust to put any fears I have to rest, it's them.

Thank you for your sympathy, though the graphics didn't bother me quite as much as the controls. I eventually did get good at the tactical combat, even using a controller, but I'm sure on the PC it was much easier to issue tactical party orders.
The ally AI was fairly stupid most of the time, though.

At any rate, I'm glad the game went for the action approach, but can still be played tactically, as much as it frustrated me, when I got good, it was really satisfying to see my party successfully follow through with my plans.
I'll still probably action RPG it most of the time, though.

That looked really nice actually. I was worried they would just make it a straight-up action game.

But will I still be able to zoom out?
