Dragon Age Comic Book Hits Stores in March

The Dragon Age universe will expand in 2010 with an ongoing comic book series.

BioWare created quite the deep setting for its recent epic RPG Dragon Age: Origins, so it makes perfect sense that it's being used for multiple forms of media other than videogames. There are already two novels available, IDW Publishing [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/95654-Dragon-Age-Flash-Game-Released-Unlocks-Items-in-Dragon-Age-Origins] will also be kicking off a Dragon Age comic book series in March 2010.

Seasoned author Orson Scott Card has stepped up to write the series along with co-writer Aaron Johnston, with Mark Robinson handling art and Humberto Ramos on cover duty. IDW didn't reveal the storyline, but the description of the book gives some hints. The series will likely follow a "a new generation of Mages" that will "defy the rules of the Templars and change the course of the world forever."

In Dragon Age's world, magic is tightly controlled by knights called the Templars due to a group of Mages that eventually corrupted themselves into the first Darkspawn, later unleashing a whole bunch of horrible creatures upon the lands and becoming the greatest evil the world has ever known. This "new generation" certainly has the potential to cause just as much anguish. Whoever they are, they sound like troublemakers.

IDW also revealed that a bunch of new A-Team books will be coming out around the same time. This has nothing to do with Dragon Age, but the A-Team is awesome.

Is it sad I'm actually more interested in the A-Team books than a Dragon Age comic by OSC?

Mass Effect is also getting a comic book, which appears to tie the first game to the second (covering that 2 year period). From the sample I read, it follows Liara. Not sure what I really think of the video game turned comic thing on the whole. I guess if they can come up with a decent enough story all the power to them. Though I haven't really been blown away by their visuals so far.

Wait, there are seriously 2 Dragon Age novels available? How did I miss that news?! I knew all about the flash game and the PnP RPG, but this is the first time I've seen word one about any novels.

Now I wonder what they're about and if they are any good.

Ergh, Orson Scott Card; why did they have to hire that anti-homosexual nutter. If I buy this, a small part of that cash goes into trying to make gays illegal (not gay marriage, gay people). He supports it so much he was on those "a storm is coming" ads against gay marriage law.

Same here, but I don't want to invest in Orson Scott Card...its not fair, why'd they have to sign up a fucking nut case to do it?
