Playing a 2 handed weapon templar. Kinda like how you can laugh in the face of any demon group. Blessed blades, whirlwind (with a 30% damage bonus ring)and the passive wich increase the WW damages the more it goes completely wreck any non-demon groups if you can manage to not get staggered or stun them for 7 seconds with the last templar skill.
Also, it is not a templar skill but I couldn't do shit without the battle roll skill. I was about to create a mage out of frustration when I discovered this skill. I'm now soloing dragons with it. You can pretty much dodge all their moves (kinda easy since they're telegraphed as hell) and with Purge you can deal with any debuff some casts on you.

On my sort of 1½ playthrough of DW Tempest... mostly because I loved the idea of flash. And frost flask is fantastic opener if they can be frozen for Deathblow shatter, nevertheless spamming said finisher with fire active.

Mage, I plan on Rift Mage because it has some actual involvement and oomph compared to KE "use sword to win" and Necromancer's CC focus with fear effects.

I just now beat DA: I, and I went with two-handed reaver. Augmented with warcry to keep a decent guard up, I was a wrecking ball of DPS goodness, so I was quite pleased with how things turned out. There were times, particularly a couple of dragon fights, where I was the only party member left standing and went toe-to-toe with the beasts until they dropped. Good times.

All in all, I was quite pleased with DA: I. Bloated, unnecessary side missions and slow-ass mounts notwithstanding.

Templar. Kind of sub-standard against bandits and other trivial mobs, but OP as hell against demons and undead. Half her abilities are I-Win buttons.
Cassandra was a main-stay in my party during my first playthrough specifically because she has the Templar spec. She was absolutely invaluable when it came to dragon fights, what with the full-party, full-life heal if she goes down. Then it's up to me to cast Revival and get her back on her feat and we're good to go! =3

OT: As for my mage, I went Rift Mage. The control over the battlefield that it gives you is just obscene, and the Focus spell for the Rift Mage is just way too much fun. For crying out loud, you call down Armageddon from the sky! The best combo, though, was Pull of the Abyss + Lightning Cage (or whatever) with it's upgrade. Sooooooooo much paralysis and lightning damage!

2nd playthrough is with an elven rogue...can't decide if I want to go Assassin or Tempest, though. I saw an Alchemist in the multiplayer which, I'm guessing, has a bunch of the Tempest's abilities...and good lord it looked overpowered as all hell.

Flask of Fire + Upgrade = No Cooldown on Abilities and No Stamina Cost for Abilities. That's right, free rapid-fire abilities...that might be too good to pass up. Then again, the Assassin tree looks like it has a boatload of good DPS (not really all that pumped for it's Focus ability, though, which just gives a few seconds of Stealth to the whole team).

So yeah, I'm leaning towards Tempest for my rogue. :p

I've experimented with all of the mage and rogue specs on my Inquisitor, but only one warrior one. I HAVE played all of them on companions though.

For Mage, I think KE is the easy button. You cannot die if you build it correctly, and it's got the sick-ass anime sword animation. It's sweet as hell to shatter a frozen enemy or the like with a giant, one-handed slice with the fucking lightsaber you get. But in terms of fun? I think Rift Mage is fun, because it's not infallible, but you really feel like it's your effort blasting everything to bits. Necromancer is nice, but for some reason, I can't ever seem to deactivate the spell that reanimates the bad guys, so I have to wait for the spell to run out before combat ends, and that gets old.

For Rogue, be a Tempest or go home, tbh. I like the other two specs for their flash, but the friggin elixers you get as a Tempest make the game SO exciting. Need to disrupt a rift/revive a buddy in the middle of combat? Use lightning and fucking stop time! Swarmed by baddies and all your escape skills are on CD? Use the Ice one and freeze them all. Want to do that cool burst-fire flip three times in a row? Cover yourself in fire and flip away! The fire one can even let you use Focus abilities for free, but I'm pretty sure that's a glitch. Assassin and the other one (Tinkerer I think?) are fun (especially the thing where you just throw like 20 traps out onto the field), but they're pretty useless comparatively, and really only add more of the same. With Tempest, I was able to kill the LVL20 Hissing Wastes dragon at level 12, and I took hardly any damage while doing so. Add Sera to your group, and then you have TWO of these beasts. With Tempest, Nightmare felt like Easy.

And I suppose, for warrior, it depends on what you like to do. Do you like to tank? Champions cannot die. Do you like to buff allies? Go Templar. Want to absolutely wreck everything in your path, so long as you're good at management? Reaver'll do that for you.

I picked Templar for my Human 2h Warrior, plus I thought since I was disbanding the templars and making them join me, that being a Templar myself at the head of the Inquisition would be nice. Seems to have more mentions in dialogue too.

For my Elf Mage I picked KE, which got so boring I've stopped playing him. Arcane Warrior had the same problem in Origins. Extremely cool class ruined by being so insanely broken.

For my Dwarf Rogue I haven't actually gotten to the point where I can pick anything yet, but the elixir one looks liek the only one that'll be interesting so I'll probably pick that.

I'm mostly let down by how boring all the specs are so far. Playing a Warrior is straight up boring, regardless what spec you are, I've heard good things about Rift Mage and Necro but haven't tried yet.

We'll see how Rogue specs are.
