Dragon Age: Inquisition Story DLC Launching... Today!


Jaws of Hakkon, the first story-based DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition will launch today on Xbox One and PC (and later for PlayStation).

Well this is a fine how-do-you-do. Bioware has quite unexpectedly announced that the first story-based DLC for Kotaku [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/dragon%20age%20inquisition?os=dragon+age+inquisition] that the full DLC is indeed coming tomorrow.

No mention was made of the PlayStation release, except that it would be "later", meaning that this is most certainly the result of one of those nasty "timed exclusivity" agreements between Microsoft and EA. No pricing details, or comment on whether or not the DLC would make its way to "last-gen" platforms, was announced.

If you listened very carefully while playing Inquisition, you would have heard "Hakkon" mentioned a few times. The name Hakkon itself seems linked to one of the old Avvar gods, Hakkon Wintersbreath. Hakkon is the "Lord of Winter", so we can probably expect the DLC to take place in some snowy mountaintop.

And that's pretty much all we know - anything else would be pure speculation. I'm excited!

Likewise. I'm also hoping that they don't plan on giving last-gen consoles the shaft in regards to DLC. Since I play Inquisition on my 360, I'd really hate to be left out because of that.

Inquisition was BioWare's most successful launch. I think we can assume that some folks have stuck around.

Aside from the drama of day one DLC with some of their previous games, Bioware has probably put out some of the best story-driven DLC's I've yet experienced.

Especially the ones for ME2 and ME3.

Never mind the obvious why post if you don't care.
Somebody will care, whatever the game is and regardless of the general attitude expressed by the majority opinion. Even widely condemned games like Assassin's Creed Unity.
Indeed games like Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 3, were badly received and even hated, only because people cared. They aren't bad games at all, they are bad sequels to great games, ones that had raised the fans expectations of what the sequel should and would be.

Exclusives should be hated whatever platform they are on. Only ignorant fanboys love "their systems" exclusives and hate all others. Only being able to afford a single system, you should choose the one best for your needs and ignore exclusives. The one thing you should never do is buy a system just to play an exclusive game.
If the games not on your chosen system, ignore it. If exclusives don't sell systems then exclusives will end.
I only play games on the PC, my chosen system, because of modding. PC has some exclusives but these are not usually paid for exclusives. Mostly Indies or beyond the consoles Technical Limits, like Star Citizen will be. If RSI can make it work on consoles, that'd be fine as long as the PC games not downgraded, I don't care about consoles getting a less taxing version, if they can't handle the full powered game.

I'm on 360 so it doesn't mean anything to me yet, and even if it was a proper release across all systems (as should be the norm, with no exceptions), I'll be waiting for patch 5 and the Black Emporium.

Playing Bloodborne tomrorow on my PS4, which I have, unlike the Xbone.
I'm not even sure why I'm being pissy at them as I played DA:I on PC.
Oh that's right, I couldn't play this tomrorow if I wanted to anyway since since their patches have fucked up modding (again (possibly intentionally)) and I'm too lazy to do any workarounds at present. So I'll have to wait and see if the modders can sort it out.
