Can't say I'm surprised. The moment I saw that Denuvo was made by the same people that did Securom, it was only a matter of time until something bad happend

It's good that you put absolute trust in absolutely random stuff posted online. I happen to be a Nigerian prince, actually, and having a lot of money and being generous, I want to reward you for that - can post all your bank and credit/debit card details (including CCV, start/expiration date and PIN).

That's what I get for hastily replying, I feel and look like an ass. My apologies.

Worse than that. They actually PUT EFFORT INTO SCREWING LEGITIMATE CUSTOMERS OVER.

I mean, whats the incentive of buying a game when, unlike its cracked/pirated counterpart, it actually damages your hardware?

What gave you that impression? I absolutely do - it was said on the Internet, after all

No, of course not.

My people have a rich history of acceptance and appreciation of truth. It is a tradition to reward other people who have a huge appreciation of honesty, as well.

And you have now won one as well! However, since I've temporarily ran out of Nigerian dollars [footnote]just a minor passing setback. The bank seems a bit fussy about letting me use my money, so I'm the process of moving them to a different account to go around that. I'm sure it would be fixed within a week or so.[/footnote] would you like your reward in fake Rollexes or Viagra? It is another traditional Nigerian gift. Again, I'll ask for the same details as before - tradition, you know.

Idk what exactly DA:I is doing to my SSD but its doing something to my PC. Crashing every 45 minutes. I have a relatively powerful PC too. I also know its not any malware because extended amounts of Dota 2 doesn't seem to be doing much. Wonder if this is an nvidia thing.

No, the problem is that EA's QA procedure consists of throwing a DVD into a gibbon enclosure at the zoo and watching what they do with it.

Yeah, it turns out that this isn't true. One screenshot of one SSD that doesn't work properly is just evidence of that particular SSD not working properly. Other people have tested this and it doesn't do any strange things. However, both DA:I and Lords of The Fallen have issues with crashing for a lot of people, and FIFA loading times are abysmal. And LoTF devs have said that Denuvo causes a 5% performance loss. I just can't wait for this to be cracked so that developers can stop using DRM that messes with performance. When it gets cracked, continued use of this will only hurt legitimate consumers.

I'm pretty sure that has been the case ever since this thread was posted. And even before. Technically ever since the original "report" was posted. I wouldn't want to think it's a big revelation or anything.

Adam Jensen said:

This screenshot?

This one is particularly bad as it doesn't actually say anything. It's just somebody claiming they've only played the game and posting a before and after of the read/write statistics but there is no actual proof that 1. they've played the game. 2. it's been 40 minutes of use 3. they haven't fudged the numbers.

Adam Jensen said:

I've got no idea about the other two, but Lords of the Fallen cannot throw its problems on Denuvo. It would just be such a fucking lie - the game is buggy as fuck and it shows. What, are they also going to claim that being able to die in a cutscene[footnote]No, not a QTE - just being killed by an enemy, because the cutscene was triggered and you couldn't do anything[/footnote] is Denuvo's fault? I really, really want to see how that would happen.

The game is just broken by default, it has bugs, issues, it has design problems. It's way, way more likely it crashes because of its numerous problems and not solely because of a third party anti-tamper measure,

Adam Jensen said:

Dunno, judging by the rest of the game, that would be 5% reduction in the rate there is problematic code being executed. If anything, it would cause the game to crash 5% more slowly. That's if their words are to be trusted. Or if they've even said it - I can't seem to find anywhere this claim was made - just some random forum posts that talk about it. A lot of them even mention that the claim was for 1-5%. The only real evidence I've found is this image

But that doesn't mean much by itself. Yes, Tomasz Gop does seem to work for City Interactive but what that 5% is referring to - it might be Denuvo, it might be something else. I don't know - I can't seem to find that comment he's made. Might be some social media, so it'd probably be harder to just google the contents and find it (which I tried and it failed). Oh, and I tried the Steam thread there - it's bullshit.

Between this and the Assassins Creed thing I think I'm just going to continue playing last years games until everything is properly patched and completed (dlc wise) 2 years from now. And I think we should all sit back and think about how sad it is that this is probably the best decision.

Just watched a TotalBiscuit review of the port(not the game). He says he has yet to see any evidence of this being true and that the game only has a few minor performance issues, overall it seems to be a good port. This site has gotten so silly during my hiatus, still carrying on the EA witch hunt long after the ME3 cataclysm.
As the post Above you has wisely stated (Grumman), this is more than just Mass effect 3 ending. EA and its developers have had a lot of issues with their products for a long time. You can't fault people for being a bit careful and not pre order the game or buying on day 1.
Nope, not buying that. Sure EA had plenty of issues before hand and people would call them out on it, and move on. However after the ME3 ending people began to see every possible mistake or action made by EA as some sort of insidious scheme. Even unsubstantiated rumors(such as the one in this thread) are taken at face value by many on this site just so that they can bash EA. Its just an annoying circle jerk of hatred that really needs to stop.

If you really think nobody hated EA with a passion before ME3 you've seriously been living under a rock.
I don't know of a single RTS fan that has truly forgiven EA for destroying WestWood and driving C&C into the ground to make a quick buck. Same goes for Bullfrog and all the other developers and franchises EA has wrecked. If there is one publisher that deserves a circle jerk of hatred it's EA.

It is worth noting this is an "Apparently" thread.

It's a rumour, and I posted this as a warning, as SSDs are expensive, and personally, I don't want to risk one playing Dragon age and there are probably some people who think the same.
Okay, it seems this thread is nothing but baseless conjecture at this point. I do realize that the title used the word "apparently", but the contents of the post seemed to indicate that this is a wide spread issue not just some random forum post and other people freaking out over that post. While i have no interest in dragon age, nor any love for EA, i prefer it when people crucify EA for their mistakes, not lies and bullshit.

You seem to have sown hysteria around here for no good reason, in future please verify this type of thing or make clear that what you are posting is only whispers.

It's not really my job to make sure people read the OP.

If you read, it, the source is there, I never expressed any widespread issue.

Personally, I'm still not really going to risk it until I know more.

Given the severity of what is reported, I tend to operate on a "Better safe than sorry" policy.

It's up to people to make up their own minds.

Keep in mind, at the time of posting this all, the counter points weren't made, and basically it was just a lot of people expressing concern. But, I will update the OP accordingly.

Holy motherfucking shit.

Uhhh, so I have Inquisition installed on my SSD right now, and that is actually quite scary if true. Now I have the choice to play this game, or run the risk of having my SSD melt in my computer without me knowing. If my SSD catches on fire, I now at least know why.

I'm aware the source was there, but 9/10 posts have a source, and the majority of the time it's just a link to some news article re-iterating what was said.
It's fine to be on the safe side, i just mean all this madness could have been prevented with a single line at the bottom saying "keep in mind, this is just rumors at this point."
I see you've done that now, so all is well.

Yes, I had this problem too. I seemed to be getting blue screens (System_Service_Exception) every few minutes whilst playing the game, and then the desktop would just lockup and force me to reboot it. I managed to fix it by setting my BIOS to default mode, downloading every windows update available, and pretty much every form of general optimisation that I could do (defragmenting HDDs, defragmenting registry, checking for errors). I don't believe that the latter point did much, but resetting the BIOS pretty much stopped it. Also, it seems that Frostbite engine games have some kind of fear of OC'd NVidia GPUs, or at least mine (GTX 580) as it crashes at least once after a fresh boot. I don't know if this does apply to you, but if your card is OC'd, try turning it off.

So basically the honest consumer has to deal with a flurry of DRM headaches and a shortened lifespan for SSDs while pirates can play with 0 worries in any regard? I thought piracy was meant to be the least desirable option, seems our honesty comes at a price.
At this point I'm wondering if the preferable option for PC game consumers is going to be:

1. Purchasing games legitimately to show that they are honest and are willing to pay.
2. Then downloading a crack or a cracked pirated version (of the game they just bought) so they can play it with no issues.

At this point, most of my boycotts are matters of convenience since I refuse to download another DRM platform other than Steam.
I unfortunately had to do this with Dark Souls because of a technical problem with the (Now deceased) Windows Live system.

The game is really poorly coded and optimized - I requested a refund, but when I was trying to play my computer acted up also. People with very high end computers seem to have less problems, though (kind of obviously). But, in any case, I run all my other games (some very demanding graphically) with no trouble at all.
