Yes I'm serious about SMB - it looks like it could be grass covered platforms, which are ubiquitous in said Japanese platformer.

The first thing that popped into my head when I first saw it was "Super Smash Brothers" because I first thought the pink thing was Kirby -_-

The play style is similar to ikaruga's. It's a game that's reaching its 10th birthday and has the cult following the size of a small country. (the series itself is almost 2 decades old.)
