"Duck and Cover" was a suggested method of personal protection against the effects of a nuclear detonation which the United States government taught to generations of United States school children from the late 1940s into the 1980s. This was supposed to protect them in the event of an unexpected nuclear attack which, they were told, could come at any time without warning.

Well, if we can't flame, what may we do?

And I personally find that video funny, though understandable at the time. The Gov. had to do something to calm the freaked-out masses.

Also, if you want to see another 1950s or so video that will make you more ashamed of the ol US of A, search for BOYS BEWARE!
If it wasn't for that one thing, it could make a descent video...

This.

Hmm, I do love how old-fashioned it is, although ducking and covering couldn't really protect you from a nuke.

What do you want us to talk about? You've just said "hey guys, duck and cover!" and then ran away. You need to create a discussion; for example, ask: "Do you think that this is silly?" or something to that effect.
Fine: Do you think that this is silly?

No.
It at least try to calm the masses, which is almost good.
Not quite, but almost.
Although ducking and covering really wouldn't save you from a nuke blast.

this is before they realized that even if you survive an explosion, the radiation will still fuck you up.
