Didn't Blizzard ban a porn star when they found out her WoW characters name? I don't get why they are seen as such bad people.
Only after she tried to use the game as an advertising tool.

That's American culture for ya: the kids can be exposed to as much blood and gore and violence as they want, but FOR GOD'S SAKE, GET THOSE BOOBS OUTTA HERE!!!
I've always found this perspective on what's appropriate to be a bit backwards.
Uh, this is in Amsterdam.

Dutch Porn Star Awkwardly Uninvited From Modern Warfare 3 Launch Party

A Dutch actress was quickly and awkwardly uninvited from an official Modern Warfare 3 launch party in Amsterdam after Activision discovered exactly what kind of films she stars in.

Are you familiar with the work of actress Kim Holland? She's made numerous appearances on television and stars in several films, none of which I can actually name here because I don't want to get fired. Suffice it to say that she's best known for her roles in a very popular genre that you're not very likely to see down at the local Cineplex.

Activision apparently wasn't entirely clear on who she was when they invited her to an official Modern Warfare 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Call-Duty-Modern-Warfare-Xbox-360/dp/B00503E8S2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320251275&sr=8-1] VIP party in Amsterdam later this month. She got the invite not only because she's a recognizable actress but also because she's an actual gamer and a big fan of the Modern Warfare series. But a few days after she got the invitation, an un-invitation arrived.

"The American publisher of Modern Warfare 3 has indicated that they prefer no representatives of the adult entertainment industry at the party," the message sent to Holland, apparently from Dutch television show and party host Gamekings [and obviously Google translated] says. "And so there must be some women in Britain and the Netherlands are canceled. I know, a little hypocritical, but the U.S. [is] the U.S. and I'm just the messenger."

Holland expressed disappointment with the decision, not just because it means she won't get the new Xbox 360 and free copy of Modern Warfare 3 that's being given to all attendees, but because of what she sees as blatant hypocrisy on the part of Activision. It's okay to make a videogame that has players killing hundreds of people, she complained, but associating with someone from the adult film industry is "really unacceptable."

"Murder is neat," she wrote, but "the love-makers [are] dirty."

Well, considering that the game is aimed and rated for adults, this is totally bullshit from Activision's part.

I rather like her little quote at the end there. But, really, Activision, you're just showing how infantile you are. You make an M-rated game, there should be no problem with am "M-rated" actress being there.
M rating = 17+
Porn rating = 18/21+
Try again.

Exactly, because we all know 12+ year old "babies" don't watch porn.

1. We don't trial soldiers for murder for killing another soldier in a war. So yeah, society's pretty positive killing in a war != murder, despite what a few protestor signs might otherwise indicate.
2. "Love-makers" are obliged by their industry to take very regular tests to check whether they have STDs as they're quite prone to them. If you ever saw an STD, or rather it's effects, the word "dirty" would not be the furthest from your mind, especially due to the fact that a lack of hygiene is another cause for it.
3. The adult film industry (particularly the actors) is not held in the highest regard considering it's basically filmed prostitution (sex for money). That might be a backwards view in the eyes of some, but it doesn't change the fact associating with it gets you a certain kind of PR, mostly viewed as negative. Considering the invites for a launch party are going out to specific people who would boost the company's PR, it's simply counterproductive to be getting that kind of PR.

So yeah. Sucks for her, but I sure as hell don't blame ActiVision, it's just a reasonable business move.
also in the netherlands games that are rated 18 or 21 are still legally sold to people from 16 and above

the law states that video games cannot exceed the 16 + limitation

It would certainly be a way to auto-beat Battlefield.
I second that statement. :)

What's this? Activision making a retarded decision and acting like dicks? What a shocker!

Seriously though. I don't know what they were afraid of, but unless she came dressed in nothing but skimpy underwear, most people would not even have acknowledged her presence, like with everyone else there.
Stay classy, Activision.

Mabye the Activision reps at the party were Kim Holland fans & didn't want to be faced with the reality that she'd not sleep with them if asked.

Alright, here is the proper translation:

"Very nice when your invited for the VIP-lauch of the game Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. A few days prior to the actual premier it's a whole different story. Because I'm getting cancelled by the American publisher Activision. Because you Know: Blowing away as many people as possible is sweet, but sex is dirty. I'd like to say: Rather a spermshower then a bloodbath."

your welcome. It isn't a perfect translation but here you go.

I'm amazed by the decisions these company executives sometimes make. Do they think anyone in the universe would have cared- or even have known- that some porn star was going to a launch party that most the world wasn't even aware existed? Yet, by cancelling her invite, the whole world knows that A) they're really incompetent when it comes to the guest list and B) they're huge jerks.

Way to go, guys.

I looked up the story and it was someone else who linked to her site. Then she got banned for it.

I don't know how it works either.
I think it sends this post to a list of posts the moderators get to review. Which means that a moderator may - potentially - be as amused as I am at the "RAMIREZ, DO EVERYTHING" meme.
Because I burst out laughing every single time. No, really. :D
