E3 Going Ahead Despite Deadly Swine Flu

Despite the apocalyptic threat of the deadly swine flu pandemic which is threatening to eradicate life as we know it from the face of the Earth, E3 will be going ahead as planned.

The imminent doom which surely awaits us all isn't going to put a damper on this year's MCV [http://e3expo.com/] that they are "closely monitoring" the relentlessly virulent outbreak.

13 cases of swine flu have been reported in California and while none have been fatal, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has nonetheless declared a state of emergency to "suspend non-competitive bid contracts for services, material, personnel and equipment needed to respond to this outbreak." The Governor's office says the level of response is appropriate, as this is the gravest threat to life on Earth faced by Schwarzenegger since Satan came to New York in search of a bride in the 1999 action thriller End of Days [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0146675/].

ESA [http://www.theesa.com/] spokesman Dan Hewitt sounded irrationally upbeat in a statement regarding the show. "The 2009 E3 Expo is progressing as planned. Public health officials are taking all appropriate steps and we continue to follow their direction on all measures," he said, seemingly unconcerned by the fact that we're all about to die in a horrific biological cataclysm. "We look forward to a great event, and to seeing you in Los Angeles in June."

oh come on! swine flu isnt a big Deal anyways why would E3 care?
the WHO said that the virus is not as bad as they origionally thought so "deadly" swine Flu is a little overzealous dont ya think?

I think he was being ironic.

When I first read your post, I didn't read it as "The World Health Organisation", I read it as "The Who" [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Who].

Wait, what DEADLY Swine Flu?

There is one case of a person that is infected with A-H1N1 and she's feeling better every day. Maybe it's free healthcare that's working, maybe because were prepared... But it looks like this one case will be over soon.

Besides, normal flu is only a bit less dangerous. And more people die from it.

Malygris, is that a hint of sarcasm I detect? Let me remind you that swine flu is instead a horrible disease, I mean, the media wouldn't be overblowing it just for attention. *eyeroll*
What are you talking about? Nobody on the internet uses sarcasm, ever. Certainly not here on The Escapist. A respected member such as Malygris would never use a sarcastic tone for something as serious as this.

Feel shame for having thought that someone was making light of the internet by even sugesting that they were not entirely serious about what they said.

Be funny if health officials make sure everyone is clean before entering as lack of hygiene can't spread the flu. So anyone smelling of B.O is classed as a liability and refused assess till take a shower in ones provided on site to reduce risk of infection *cough* and smell *cough* on the floor :D

Comon when will people realize that so far the Swine Flu has been about as deadly as a nasty cold. Events should not be canceled, schools should not be closed, we are not going to die. That and I would think that if you had the swine flu you would know better then to go to a giant public place.
