Gaming needed a good Coke and Pepsi rivalry, and console wars stopped being fun around the time "Sega does what Nintendon't" faded into history. Enter Activision and EA. If they elevate the form in the name of profit, that's a best-case scenario; everybody wins.

And for those who think they'll keep shoveling crap and making their money that way? Ubisoft publishes all that crapware on the DS that I keep seeing at Best Buy (the "Imagine" series and its ilk), so take it up with them.

I remember when EA used to be considered the "bad guys", but lately they've cleaned up their act and let truly great original IP's see the light of day. Activision's practices right now are way worse than EA ever was. It's great to see the redeemed bad guy take a swing at the real enemy.

5 years ago I never thought I'd be rooting for EA but nowadays they work together with so many great developers and publish so many awesome games, you just gotta respect that.then again being kotick's rival how could I dislike EA? Fuck Kotick

Can't they just, you know, get big pile of jelly or mud or chocolate and get their prettiest workers battle it out (gender equality included) instead throwing words at each other? Would be much more entertaining.

"His company is based on three game franchises - one is a fantastic persistent world he had nothing to do with; one is in steep decline; and the third is in the process of being destroyed by Kotick's own hubris."

This is kinda sad.

These people from multi-billion dollar companies are acting like the 12 year olds that play their games. Can we get some people a little more concerned about putting out a quality product, and get rid of these children in business suits?

Tim Schafer's last line is what really made me smile here. EA's own verbal volley wasn't too bad, either.

It's official. Tim Schafer is the most likeable ahole I've ever seen. The guy's funny and seems pretty nice most of the time but geez. It was something Kotick said in a magazine so of course it would take something of a few months to get out...

And Brutal Legend isn't a great game anyways. It is solidly in good territory. And that is a BAD thing.

Here's an idea - if you don't want the people on your dev team to be ridiculed, HAVE THEM MAKE A BETTER GAME.

EA: Cutting down both Edge and Kotick in order to make up for what we've done.
As far as apologies go, they're doing pretty damn good.
