I feel glad that I never bought an EA after C&C3, like RA3 or C&C4. But wait... If you buy C&C4, or any other EA game on Steam, and you get banned on EA forums, will it affect your Steam games?

Seriously shouldn't. But then again, I don't have any EA games I really care about. Or use their forums. Or play them, for that matter.

First of all, I'm not part of your 'we' who apparently hates Activision, so leave me out of it. Second of all, that doesn't mean we still can't hate on EA. If people only did what was trendy I wouldn't be wearing shirts that belong in the 80s.

I don't hate them cause its trendy... I hate them cause I don't think they should start charging more for games and DLC when better quality stuff regularly comes out cheaper.

And I love EA because of many little things they've done to completely turn themselves around. On my birthday I received an email from EA with a 20% off discount code. I was shocked, shocked.

But still hate who you will. It was an intended humorous reply as this thread has been necro'd.

That..actually sounds like a good idea tbh, as long as their mods are fair. People aren't gonna troll if they know their ability to play their favorite games is on the line.

Yes but what if you mess up or get hacked. what if its your first post and you din't read the rules. thats it banned hundreds of pounds gone. you OWN THE GAME. but you cant use it. does not sound very fair to me.

That's why I said 'If the mods are fair.' Besides, yeah it would suck if you got banned due to getting your account hacked but if you 'mess up' badly enough to warrent banning you probably did more than mess up.

I agree with banning them from multiplayer (if someone's going to go around trolling like an idiot, why not? I've had experience with moderating games etc., and most of the people who are ban-worthy deserve the punishment) but singleplayer seems drastic. I mean, they can't bother anyone fighting AI in story mode.

Yeah I'm going to end up doing this a lot... *ahem* 2 year old post guys. No law suits or boycotts, this was all over a long time ago.

Well, I guess EA decided SecuROM wasn't enough, and are truly striving to bankrupt themselves. Yes, the easy solution is stay off the forums, but that's not the issue here. As the paying customer, your right to play the games purchased cannot be restricted by unrelated actions elsewhere on the internet. In-game behavior within an online game, yes, but even then they cannot restrict your right to offline play.

This is why I hate Valve's STEAM system, and EA, and any other company who has an online connectivity requirement to single-player games. On a whim, they can disable your purchase, and what can you honestly do about it? They're located in a different state, often a different country from most users. They have your money, and enough money to make sure you can't sue (or at least, can't win), and the EULA gives them the right to do this shit. When is the government going to step in and regulate how much an EULA covers, and start protecting consumer rights? And how much longer before EA's investors begin firing their CEO and management staff?

You're mistaken, you can play your Steam games without an internet connection

Banning for forum abuse is a GREAT IDEA. People who are total arses on forums, are also total arses on games.

However I believe the ban should be online only, as NPC's are not affected by general arsery(new word?)
