Good, let the market speak either way. I wish more companies would just tell outrage mobs to sit and swivel.

Good, glad to see a company sticking by their guns to make the game they want to make, you know that thing Gamergate pretended to care about when it was softcore titty porn in an action game and literally no other time?

Frankly I just really wish every single game franchise at E3 would reveal the next game had a female lead or it was rebooted with a female lead or it suddenly includes a diverse cast, like not a single grizzled gunbro in sight. So that all these angry emotionally unstable petulant little shits who whine about stuff like this would all collectively decide to boycott every single game that ever existed, thus gaming can fumigate its beligerant asshole population in one fell swoop and in the aftermath everyone else can just go back to playing and innovating and new kinds of stories can get made.

Sure we lose half but the half that survives knows nothing but full game libraries, diverse casts and clear online forums with nary an alt right meme in sight.

Perfectly balanced... as all things should be

Indeed, when the strawmanned statement is still less insulting than the actual statements of people who are upset at seeing a female in the game.
Yeah but since we are allowed to strawman now, let's all just create the strawman reaction to announcements like this.

It's relatively easy, all you need is a hell of a lot of 'cuck' and 'soy' and 'get back in the kitchen' and 'women should be our sex slaves' and 'something something black men having sex with white women' and 'I'm an alpha male because I say so! I'm secure, really!!' and the rest writes itself.

Except that's not a strawman, that's literally how they talk.

And seriously if anyone thinks people don't act like that I invite them to go to literally any youtube comment section of the trailer for Gears of War 5.

Except ?balancing all things? isn?t even feasible to begin with. It?s a nice thought for sure, but is reality still allowed to interject at all?

Agreed on the comment stuff though. If life were fair then those types, and well, all idiots incapable of decency, would be infertile.

if it happpen than it will be death of gaming.

majority of gamers/audience are males. second they can create a new IP by putting female protagonist. so why forcing female protagonist into those franchise that are male oriented?

whats next? Hitwoman instead of Hitman? or playing as Doom girl instead of DOOM slayer?

come on that wont work.

some of us prefer to play as male characters doesnot mean we hate female characters or we are sexist. but its just our preference. i feel comfortable playing as male characters because im a man and want to be a man in gaming universe.

Balance those comments out. Explain how Hitwoman or DOOM Girl wont work, while also remaining 'not sexist'.

Why not?

Also why is girl the feminine version of slayer it's a gender neutral term
Heck, when I think 'Slayer' I think Buffy so if anything 'Slayer' is a feminine term. At least to me.

Not sure why, but that sentence there really made me laugh, maybe it's the implied inverse what made it funny, implying that the gender of a game character makes someone uncomfortable, in any case, thanks for the laugh😊 Have a good one.

As for the topic, it's nice to see EA standing by their decision, interested to see where this is going.

If the mere presence of women kills gaming

Then gaming deserved to die.

majority of gamers/audience are males.
Yes and as a male I take offense to your implication that I would run away screaming at the prospect of playing as a woman. Most of us are emotionally mature enough not to let that crap bother us, is my point.

second they can create a new IP by putting female protagonist. so why forcing female protagonist into those franchise that are male oriented?
You missed the part where in my hypothetical scenario this was being done deliberately to make the angry GG chodes run away. Like I want to piss those guys off, I have enough faith in the fact that everyone else will be mature enough to not be bothered by it.

Why wouldn't it work though?

Yeah and some people prefer playing as female characters and yet you see people REEEEing their little hearts out whenever women are added as playable characters in games like battlefield.

[quote[but its just our preference. i feel comfortable playing as male characters because im a man and want to be a man in gaming universe.[/quote]

Yeah and the same goes in reverse for women. Unlike you guys however women can't seem to get a lead in a major triple a game release without the comments pages being 'soy' and 'cuck' and insinuations of interracial sex. If people want to understand what 'privilege' means this is a perfect example. Everything right now caters to you, you don't want that to change so when things start getting better for women, you have to shit all over it.

Well luckily I imagine the worst ones probably can't have no hope of getting laid without the use of grave robbing so there's that.

I personally don't care a lot about women being in this game but they're obviously doing it to earn good boy points. Even the lead designer thinks he's on ''the right side of history'' because he doesn't have the spine to explain to his 9-year-old daughter why there were pretty much no women in WW2, a really pathetic guy.

Because knowing the lore of those games. it wont work. or it will feel awkward. i mean Hitman is agent 47. not some james bond style spy but a cold blooded emotionless killer who disguise. it work perfectly fine with male character.

Doom is about badass Doom guy alone shooting demon. so playing as man would feel much better. if Doom guy was girl than it would not just work at all.

I take it you were never a fan of Nikita, La Femme Nikita or ( again ) Nikita.

Why couldn't there be a trained female assassin? Call her Agent 48, or would this imply some agenda that girls are better than boys? In that case name her Agent 46 then.

...Wow. I can't believe I have to give EA props for telling those guys to put their money where their mouth is.

Article itself was damn good too. Seriously, whining about "accuracy" when not only DID women fight in WW2, but it's also the same series where you can...Repair a horse with a wrench?! XD

Scrolling down into the comment section was hilarious too. One of those Social Injustice Warrior types was going "The left has lost its mind, they're cheering on being able to now murder women in games, I told you they were the real women-haters!" XD

You....Realize his comment was facetious, right? You're chomping on bait that's not actually real.

Second, don't worry, they're obviously going to still make games with male leads, sheez, men make up half the population and have always held the spotlight in gaming, they're not going to magically disappear.

Thirdly...Grow up a little? I mean, 9 times out of 10 I prefer to play as a dude too and typically select that option at character select, but I'm not going to pitch a fit or feel uncomfortable playing a girl. The last time I felt that way I was 12 and had the impression that girls could give you cooties, whatever that was. And then I played Lost Kingdoms 2 and was like "holy hell this lady protagonist is just so goddamn cool" and got over myself.

whats next? Hitwoman instead of Hitman? or playing as Doom girl instead of DOOM slayer?

Speak for yourself, a playable woman in a hitman game would be neat, it opens up a ton of new possibilities. No one ever suspects the quiet woman of being a murder machine, after all.

And...Dude, Doom Slayer's sex and gender are basically irrelevant. He's a one-track-mind psychotic juggernaut who only exists to slaughter demons. He's basically a living weapon whose position on gender is most likely "Does it help me kill demons better? No? Then I don't care".

He could be a woman, a hermaphrodite, trans, whatever, and it literally changes nothing. ...Well nothing aside from maybe the weirdos who idolize and look up to him as "the pinnacle of manliness", despite his entire personality being a ball of pure rage that thinks "I hate demons, I'm going to rip and tear until they're all dead" and literally nothing else. On which case, man do they have issues.

That he thinks women cant be emotionless killers, or solo badasses.

Too late, saw it long ago.

And...why? Seriously, why? I mean, I can at least get why some people might not like females in Battlefield, but Gears 5? People were fine with females being squad members in Gears 3, Judgement, and 4, but as soon as one becomes the main character? Well then everyone starts losing their minds.

(Okay, not everyone, but that quote was too good to pass up.)

B-Cell said:

For Hitman, okay, sure, you'd be able to make a spinoff at best, and you might as well make a new IP for that, but it's not as if you couldn't take the mechanics of Hitman and graft them onto said "Hitwoman" game. As for Doom, at least in its current form, Doom is probably better suited for a male character because right now it's an embodiment of hyper-masculinity. However, the inherent concept of a super soldier tearing demons apart isn't tied to gender. You could easily take something like Doom 3, make the protagonist female, and all you'd have to change is a few pronouns in the script.

some of us prefer to play as male characters doesnot mean we hate female characters or we are sexist. but its just our preference. i feel comfortable playing as male characters because im a man and want to be a man in gaming universe.
So...don't choose a female avatar in Battlefield then?

Y'know, people who don't want female characters in Battlefield could simply choose to make their characters male. Just saying...
