Michael continued down the stairs, rifle at the ready in case they had anymore suprises. Stepping over the dog at least it still looked like a dog, he saw the stairs ended in a landing which seemed to be clear. "Guys, I have a landing down here, it looks clear."
"Another one?" Harry ran full pelt down the steps towards the door. Rifle in hand and smashed through, and without resistance he fell to ground. He stands up "God dammit.."
The fire exit opens to the street. It's night time but the terraformation has prevented the temperature from reaching freezing. Dull street lights illuminate the paths, revealing desolation and debris. A sign post labels this area as "Lunar Street". All visible buildings are boarded up or inaccessible due to the rubble. You can see sheets of metal and broken wood scattered near the fire exit door.
Dan descended the staircase and followed Harry and Michael through the door. Thinking back to the note they had found earlier, he answered Michael," Our first priority is finding any survivors, and the science lab that note mentioned seems like our best bet. Maybe some more info on whatever shines is will be there as well." Looking around at the deserted street, he added, "But I have no idea how to get there."
Michael fought to hold in a laugh after Dan's comment. "I suppose we are doing what we do best then? Winging it? Did anyone bring a map with them before we jumped ship?" Michael walked a little further down Lunar street hoping to find some semblance of the right direction to head down.
Michael's head tilted towards the sound, "Did anybody else here that or am I starting to go mad from our surrounding?" He walked toward the noise, rifle at the ready.
Michael and Dan approach the bus stop to find a crow perched on top of a bus route map. The crow is missing at least half of its feathers and is exposing similar skin conditions as the dog.
"Yeah, there is no way its a coinicidence that both that bird and the dog both happened to have skin cancer. This has got to be shines." Dan grimaced as he looked at the crow. "Shit, I really don't want to see any people who have got it."
Michael holstered his rifle sighing with a small amount of relief. "You think they would have warned us about this contingency when they gave us the briefing. I suppose we are just going to wing it then?"
