So when EA says that they're going to kill the game if it doesn't sell 5 million copies and it doesn't even sell 1, someone saying that the company is probably going to get the ax is wrong somehow?
Yes, because EA likes to pull the plug first. It takes all the fun(profits) out of it if people know the game series is ending prematurely, Like if Harry Potter stopped at book 4 sure that book had a ending but the universe was still in turmoil/unresolved.

Well here's the thing, J.K, Rowling never said that she was going to give the series the ax if book 4 didn't sell enough while EA did, therefore your metaphor kinda falls apart. And if EA didn't want people to jump to this conclusion, they should've have given people evidence that this conclusion makes sense.

To be fair I was on the camp of "Good riddance to bad rubbish" when i heard the news.

O wells, I will not be one to buy Dead Space 4 when it comes out next year.

I wasn't trying to explain why they wanted to stop dead space or was trying to say they are for sure, but that if they are planning to end it and still like money it's bad business to announce the series you planned to keep going on after the most resent volume released is going to stop short of it's true end, would hurt possible sells before it's officially confirmed.

I can't help but feel like the major publishers are begging for a crash. There's just no way they can economically sustain rising costs dedicated almost exclusively to graphics and cinematography when the average pleb really can't tell the difference any more.

Now that I think of it, does anybody even buy games just because they're pretty any more? I grew up during the 16-bit era when that was something kids discussed, but I just don't see it happening these days. The rise of iPhones and such with their very simplistic graphics has probably made the topic irrelevant.

Also, this:

...Okay, yes, I can understand being frustrated if web sites are posting that your company has made decisions that haven't as yet actually been made.

But on the other hand, notably absent from Moore's comments? Confirmation that the series will continue.

Totally agree with Moore. Hate it when sites generate bullshit or start twisting rumours into a frenzy.
My stance as well.

You can blame EA for whatever you want and complain about their business practices as much as you want, and some of it may actually be true, but that still doesn't give a supposed journalistic news source the right to make things up and post rumour as news. Pot calling kettle black in this case? Maybe so, but that doesn't mean two wrongs make a right. Videogame journalism already has a black eye due to recent controversies, it doesn't need the other one to be blackened too.

FFS people! Being from EA doesn't make someone automatically wrong! I'm so sick of you fucking humans and your stupid emotional knee-jerk reactions to everything!

This post was brought to you by the Department of Hypocrisy.

You used to be cool Peter Moore!
When did that use to be? Whenever I hear his name I have to think about this South Park skit:

Couldn't find it in a better quality. :/
I keep thinking of Dan "Shoe" Hsu's interview with Moore where he essentially criticises Moore and the idiot is too self absorbed to realize it.

Interview is here [http://www.1up.com/features/moore-law] by the way.

The thing worth learning from this is that you can never trust a videogame related news site. This isn´t the first time fake news has been reposted allover the internet because videogame journalists are lazy^^. I know that readers should be critical of their sources, but you kind of expect news sites to be somewhat reliable and or credible.

I mean we all know that a good argument and calling people names will make everyone forget about another issue right? Right?
Ohhhhhhh, yeah. Interesting. How about you go and buy a product from Steam, and then dispute the charges with your bank to get a refund. Your account will be banned.

Oh, im sorry, were you trying to stir up EA hate in an irrational forum?

Yes, EA not giving refunds is an iffy situation. Technically, the product does work, but because of the -surge- of people wanting to play it, the servers are clogged. I have no defense against that, but the article you linked to is EXACTLY

-EXACTLY-

E-X-A-C-T-L-Y

what Peter Moore is ranting about. Sensationalism journalism to get more clicks.

So technically, your helping EA with that. I bet they would thank you.

Oops. I thought this was going to be about this Moore guy being upset with the storyline in Dead Space. Okay, so it's not going to win any awards, but I like the storyline. It's the main reason I play the game.

It drives me nuts when news stories use "an unnamed source close to the project" or any variation of that phrase. In my journalism classes, if any of us ever did that our teachers would flat out fail the project. If the only source you can cite, without any evidence or corroborating sources, is an unnamed source, then your story is simply made up. That's what I was taught.

In my experience classes (on just about everything) teach the way things ought to be done. And when I say "ought" I mean for reasons of practicality and efficiency - not just ethics.

Then you go out into the real world and discover that nobody does it that way.

Oh admit it Pete.
Economics bit your company in the ass, and you're too ashamed of everyone in the room snickering about it to continue.

Didn't they say that they approached EA for comment before running the story and they declined? IF that's true then EA blasting them for it now is dumb
Yes - they held the story release in order to give EA a chance to respond, and only published after the UK branch had done so - the US side then released a further statement at odds with the first.

EA threatened to ban him for wanting a refund.... For a game that is not playable from their end..... Like oh I dunno... Like this? [http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/12/19/valve-pulls-the-war-z-off-steam-offers-refund/ ]

If it were not for the threat of a low content warning I would just let the link be the only thing I replied with.... I know though it is Forbes... That cesspool of random information. Almost as bad as Reddit...
