^^ All this and I almost feel like he is trying to draw attention away [http://www.gamechup.com/ea-refuses-to-refund-user-for-simcity-threatens-account-ban/ ] from something else that people are mad about..... I mean we all know that a good argument and calling people names will make everyone forget about another issue right? Right?
Ohhhhhhh, yeah. Interesting. How about you go and buy a product from Steam, and then dispute the charges with your bank to get a refund. Your account will be banned.

*Snip*

EA threatened to ban him for wanting a refund.... For a game that is not playable from their end..... Like oh I dunno... Like this? [http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/12/19/valve-pulls-the-war-z-off-steam-offers-refund/ ]

If it were not for the threat of a low content warning I would just let the link be the only thing I replied with.... I know though it is Forbes... That cesspool of random information. Almost as bad as Reddit...
Im guessing your pulling at straws here.

First off, Server issues =/= Broken game. So your link means nothing in this conversation. Because of the popularity of SimCity, the servers cannot handle everyone, though they say they are working on them, and will be ready in a couple of days.

Launch issues happen, even though EA should of been ready for it.

Second off.

This comes from the thread talking about this whole issue, and no one wants to read the issue. He got the refund while being disrespectful to the customer service people.

Also, if you call into question the link, I can call into the question your link. All it was was a guy posting a supposed 'real' convo on a forum.

Lets not forget either, the actual reason for the ban isnt asking for a refund, its -disputing- the charges with your bank. This is going into corporate legal territory, and both Steam and Origin will lock your account because of that.

Also, the game isnt broken, once the servers are back up and running (and this happens on plenty of launches, its just worse here) the game will be completely playable.

EDIT: Also, look up the Origin twitter account. They ever tweeted that they dont do that.

EDIT 2: Actually, Ill just link you to this new news post from the Escapist.

What's that, EA mouthpiece? You didn't get the story you wanted? Pity. Guess you should have bought the DLC.
Wonderful. Bravo. That was a classy burn, my friend. I laughed...so loud...I probably scared someone in the house.

EA being reasonable? what sorcery is this?

To be fair I was on the camp of "Good riddance to bad rubbish" when i heard the news.

O wells, I will not be one to buy Dead Space 4 when it comes out next year.
i wouldnt go as far as calling it bad rubbish but deadspace was just a mediocre action shooter with some jumpscares, not a "second coming of christ for this generation" as Jimquisition put it.

I loved Dead Space 1, Dead Space 2 was ok, playing Dead Space 3 now...and honestly, do not want.

So it is bad rubbish to me at this point :(

I'll admit i like more of the same if every iteration was just a crispy version of the last (God of War and Assassins Creed did this well) but dead space feels lazy. I don't want 4 if its going to be like 3.

Hey thats just me.

*Snip some back and forth

1. PR post issue spinning makes issues seem like there are "very few cases" or "isolated problems" I look at "hey I know 15 people who bought this... 14 said it was unusable..." *looks online* "yep seems to be a real issue"

2. A multi-BILLION dollar company should not put out a product that is not ready and expect the paying consumers to be happy with so PR BS.

3. These are my opinions based upon the information I am able if people do not like them... so what.

That is all I really have to say on the subject. Nice talk.

Ah, so everything you put is your opinion and no one can say anything about it? Thats wrong, opinions can be criticized, so here goes :)

1. When an issue first arises with PR, you dont go out and say "OMG EVERYTHING IS FALLING APART". You stay level headed, say something will be done soon, and work on it. Now that things havent gotten better, they elaborate that there is a big issue and tell people about it, as well as adding, oh, a free -game-.

2. I like what a mod said about this. There could be unforeseen circumstances (Especially since this is all MAXIS, NOT EA. Remember, Game devs have to take flak to, since its their game, their programming. Maxis is not multi-billion. Oh, and yes, the Maxis lead came out and said, in a pretty annoyed tone, that EA didnt have a hand in the servers, only Maxis did). That was a long side note... But his post pretty much elaborated about -many- possibilities that could cause the servers to go down. Bad programming, possible DDoS, server host dropping the ball on them, etc. So if it is a critical problem, it actually may take longer to fix. huh, weird.

3. well, I talked about that at the beginning.

Nice talk.

Oh, P.S. - That kid that you posted that link for, yeah, in another thread we have a screenshot of him getting an easy refund, while being a complete dick to the Customer Service rep. So fake convo on his part? Possibly.

While I agree with Moore about on how incredibly annoying and unprofessional such fabricated news posts can be, I find it just as annoying and unprofessional (and hypocritical) for him to be chastising someone for it, given his own companies behavior as of late.

Regardless, despite the news post being fabricated, and later redacted, I still fear it will come true. I just hope EA doesn't shut down Visceral entirely. They're a damn fine developer.

That is a shitty, unethical journalist tactic that's used, it's true. Whether in this case that was employed..?

What occurs to me though is that EA has a big legal arm that could easily sue for libel causing damages equivalent to predicted stock impact if they were genuinely committed to their outrage over this 'misleading' information, but that's provided that the report isn't genuinely believed to be correct on the part of the Journos and provided that factually EA is developing a new Deadspace game, which doesn't seem to be the case, closing the dev studio and dodging questions about it.

My understanding of law might be off, but I understand this to be how this sort of thing works.

Ah, okay. So, the best way to deal with an unethical journalist (once that person has been shown to be wrong) is to insult that person and the publisher that person works for while at the same time condemning the entire medium they both work in as "standard" and "shoddy".

Y'know, EA, if it was someone other than you, I might take offense at that. But it's you, so I can dismiss it as just another fart in the hurricane of flatulance coming out of your corporate office. You still stink, EA. Skewering the errors of others while standing behind your own doesn't make the stench any less foul.
