So apparently it'll be open world, I'm 100% cool with that cause last time japeness dev tried to do western style open world they made dragon dogma, so more of that please.

That Valkyrie prosthetic looks promising haha! And all those arms are kinda reminiscent of a Bodhisattva which doesn't quite fit with norse myths hence is all ominous. Who knows, maybe the "west" that the divine dragon hails from is actually Valhalla lol.

And damn, I love how that blacksmith seemed to be cracking apart like he's made of rock. Not sure which norse god he's supposed to be. I know the one-armed one might be Tyr though since he's usually depicted as having one arm.

But yeah I'm still not done platinuming Sekiro so I'm still very satisfied with From. This game's announcement and themes are kinda like a cake on top of another cake. Ninja themes will amlways beat Norse themes for me so I kinda already have the From game of my dreams in my hands...I'm awaiting for them to prove me wrong.:D

And that one was Capcom too who has little experience with western style games. From should be able to surpass that quite a bit.

Though I doubt this game will have Berserk cosplay like DD. (would love to be wrong about that though haha)

I still remember the day when I was browsing the online people's support units and I came across Griffith and I'm like "wow they really made their support look like...wait...no, this is not random things that kinda look like Griffith's armor, this IS his armor, what the hell is going on in this game!" lol.

Judging by their SoulsBorne games, what good is it to have a writer when you suck at story telling?

What was once merely speculation [https://v1.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.1057019-GRR-Martin-FROMSOFT-game-could-be-at-E3#24304654] months ago has turned into reality. Great, yet another awesome looking game to round out my backlog with.

Well the SoulsBorne games were deliberately obscure and the lore was meant to be gradually uncovered by the player. It sounds like they?re definitely doing something different here, which would be the point of a fantasy writer like GRRM.

Wait..what sounds like cringy fanfiction is actually true? Curious what the extent of Martin's involvement is. Any close collaboration must be difficult when you don't speak eachother's language(unless Miyazaki speaks english). Hyped beyond belief about the return to dark fantasy action-RPG(still me favorite) though I found the trailer a bit disappointing. Even for CGI trailers Fromsoftware has done better. ''The ring is destroyed'' and the entire scene it sets is almost identical to ''the fire fades'' even down to the ominous orchestra and thematic grandeur. To be honest I think the E3 2015 Dark Souls 3 CGI trailer did this way better.

Though if this really is Dark Souls 2.0 set in an 'open world' sprinkled with some GRRM flavor I couldn't be happier. As good as Sekiro was Dark Souls 3(and Bloodborne) is my most favorite game of all time so I love the return to form. I also found Sekiro a bit too much in the difficulty department. DkS3 was just perfect so hopefully Elder Ring is in a similar league.

Based on the interview in the top post, Martin did a lot of the worldbuilding and lore. Miyazaki sounds like a huge fan of him in that interview as well so it's safe to say they're gonna honor his work. It doesn't say if he speaks English but they apparently managed to have creative sessions together somehow lol.

Sounds interesting,. I'm not a big FromSoftware fan, games are a bit hard for me, even though I enjoy their settings. I'll be keeping an eye on this one at the least to see where it may go.

Rewatching the trailer for the 10th or so time (I'm only getting more hype over this and it's still so early, this doesn't bode well XD), there's this part where they say the sky burns.

Now I feel complicated about praising the sun so much. Maybe he got arrogant and now we have to take him out? Would definitely be a departure lol.

An interview with Miyazaki about how the game came to be, Martin's involvement, and some light gameplay information:

Just ordered that book Fevre Dream that Miyazaki says is his favorite GRRM book and considers required reading material for his staff. Curious to see how Elden Ring might draw on some of it for inspiration or maybe other From Software titles. They already had the aesthetic down with Bloodborne but would love so much for them to return to 19th century stuff one day. Maybe indeed vintage vampire horror or something similar.

Someone's gotta write the flavor text for your items.
