Since the US elections are already over, and watching them had been pretty fun, I'd like to start a new New Vegas elections thread. Who would be better to win and control the Mojave? Should the courier side with House and colonize mars in a 100 years? Go with the corrupt NCR or the vicious creaser's Legion?
Or perhaps... You'd rather be a Wild Card?

If NV was a good game, you do Yes Man but take control of everything instead of... just walking away. That never made any sense as a character ending

You could be belligerent dictator, reform the strip because House's idea of mafia gangster was horrible idea or becoming Ho Chi Ming - forceful fairness.

All other choices are the worst. NCR is Biden, Legion is Trump with more stabs and House is Bloomberg/Zucc/Bezos. All are terrible

I'm pretty sure the implication is that the Courier takes control of everything. That's kind of my problem with the whole ending. The courier is a dictator. They control the securitrons, so they are in charge. Even if they die, or leave, or whatever, then whoever controls the securitrons next gets to be in charge. It's really no different to the house ending, or some hypothetical ending in which Benny succeeds, except to the degree that we can imagine that our personal courier would be a nicer person than those people (would they really though, how many people did you kill in Fallout: NV?)

NCR is a shitty democracy. But it's a shitty democracy in a world where democracy is a ridiculous and impractical experiment (bear in mind, the pre-war USA in the Fallout universe was not a democracy). It's a bad ending, but it's still the best ending we are offered.

I originally thought that 'turning his back on his home' meant the Mojave. But rereading it here, maybe it meant the Divide

Yeah, the endings really stack up to be an immortal dictator with delusions of grandeur (House), a dictator without a line of succession and a nasty civil war waiting in the wings (Ceasar's Legion), a dictator towards which you have confirmation bias (wild card) or a corrupt, mostly broken democracy (NCR). None of that is appealing but the NCR is the only ending which holds at least half a promise that the people of the New Vegas region might get a better life of some sort.
I always imagined Wild Card ending would really all be about Yes Man betraying you and having an AI rule over New Vegas.

That does seem to be the take away from his "I would never betray you" line and previous betrayal of his former master. But Josh Sawyer has gone on record stating that Yes Man is perfectly loyal and won't betray the courier.
He did? The bit about the personality module upgrade only cemented it for me, that he'd betray the courier and run it itself.
I only did NCR and Wild Card endings myself, the rest I watched on youtube.
