Thanks to a previous post, I found out the name of a game that was given to me 20 to 25 years ago (EMPIRE, thanks BloatedGuppy!). It had a world map, with land squares (I think X's) and water squares (I think O's). It had various types of ships, planes, armies, etc., each designated by a certain number of letters (Carriers might be 5 C's strung together, a Fighter an F, an Army an A, etc.). It was a great game, kind of a precursor to the first Civilization PC game without the tech.
I am trying to find out whether the ASCII version is still available and will run on a VISTA computer. Don't want any bells or whistles, just the original ASCII game.
